Psalm 56:3 - What time I am afraid, I will have confidence in and put my trust and reliance in You. Throughout scripture God reminds us that we have no reason to fear nor be dismayed for He is our God. But, as humans we have a tendency to fear, especially when circumstances and situations are beyond our control.
Opportunities to fear or have faith comes to all of us on a daily basis.
At each turn in the road where fear presents itself to us, we must determine in our hearts and mind that we will not allow fear, but faith to take control, knowing that our God is with us.
In this text, David, who not only killed a bear and a lion while tending his father sheep, also killed the giant Goliath. David, a courageous young man from his youth faced many opportunities to fear. I am sure that in the times when he was approached by the lion, bear and Goliath, fear showed up, but he decided to not allow fear to rule, but faith.
Throughout the majority of the writings in the bible about David, he seemed confident and not fearful, but yet we find him in this text saying that there were times when he was afraid.
God wants to remind all of us on today that regardless of how big the giants are in our lives, He is bigger than anything that could come against us. He is calling us to get our eyes off the giant and put them on Him.
For whatever reason you may be feeling fearful on today, God says "be not afraid" only trust Me."
When you are feeling afraid and believe that there is nothing you can do or say, remember there is something you can say and do, and that is pray and trust God.
Scripture declares in Psalm 9:10- “Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O LORD, do not abandon those who search for you.” Psalm 118:8
Psalm 118:8 - “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.”
Fear is from satan and we can choose not to give into it. We must not bow down to fear, but bow our heads in faith to our God.
2 Chronicles 16:9a “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.”
Isaiah 41:10 - “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Feeling fearful? You do not have to face it alone. God bids you to come to Him. Let's listen to Matthew 11:28 - Come to me all of you who are weary and heavy burden and I will give you rest.
When fear attempts to attach itself to us, let us boldly confess what David confessed on today in Psalm 56:3 - What time I am afraid, I will have confidence in and put my trust and reliance in You.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding; but in all you ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path.
God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for it is He alone who can take away all our fears.
