Proverbs 20:22 – Do not say, “I’ll pay you back for this wrong!”Wait for the Lord, and he will avenge you.
Revenge! Are you out for it on today? I am sure that there are some people who are, but I pray that none of them are you who are Christians.
Revenge is common place in our world today. It comes without remorse or forethought. Revenge has awful consequences for those who does it and to those who it is done to.
Today, let God be your "Avenger", not you. Do not attempt to repay evil for evil for this is not the will of God for you.
There are a lot of hurting people in the world today. Many have been offended, wounded, wronged, betrayed, mistreated, abused, neglected, rejected, oppressed and on and on in one way or another. But, paying them back is not left up to you.
Are you thinking about paying someone back for wrong they have done to you? Has the enemy lead you to believe that you have to take matters into your own hands? Is this where you find yourself in the midst of hurt and anger from someone else's bad behavior towards you?
Are you ready to take revenge? Don't do it! Wait on God! Do not say "I will pay you back for this wrong". Wait on the Lord for He will fight your battles.
Never make an attempt to avenge yourself but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord”.
Remember, the battle is not yours, it belongs to God. He will fight for you.
When the enemies of God's people came against them, God stepped in . Let's listen to 2 Chronicles 20:15-Pay attention, everyone in Judah, in Jerusalem, and you too King Jehoshaphat. This what the Lord says to you: "stop being afraid, and stop being discouraged because of this vast army that has come against you, because the battle doesn't belong to you, but to God.
Yes, you may have been taken advantage of in a vengeful way, but vengeance is mine says the Lord!
You must trust God in knowing that He will work it out on your behalf for your good and for His glory. No, we can not always see the hands of God working on our behalf, but we must know without a doubt that if we belong to Him, He will fight our battles.
As Christians, we have a solution to vengeance and our solution is the Word of God, therefore, let us learn to forgive and not take revenge.
Remember when Peter took revenge in the Garden and cut off the ear of a roman soldier who came to arrest Jesus? Let's listen to what Jesus said to Peter in John 18:10-11a-Then Simon Peter drew a sword and slashed off the right ear of Malchus, the high priest slave. 11-Jesus commanded Peter, put away your sword! Why? Vengeance is mine says the Lord!
Psalm 37:8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret--it leads only to evil. Remember, vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord.
God will repay! He will be the one to make wrong right. Do not take matters into your own hands. When God does bring punishment, it will come suddenly, but that's God's doing; that's God's judgment; that's God's choice. It is God who says "vengeance is mine" says the Lord.
Trust God on today.
Yes, we all are in a battle, but the battle belongs to God. He is Sovereign. He is in full control of everything in life and He sees and knows all things. Nothing happens in life without His knowledge. His eyes roams through the earth.
1 Thessalonians 5:15-Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.
Remember, evil will not go unpunished. It is not up to us to makes sure it does not go unpunished because that is the work of God. He will see to it that evil is taken care of. by Him for you.
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.
1 Peter 2:15 - For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.
Remember, the Christians battles are fought on our knees in prayer to the Father and not with physical or verbal weapons. For the battle is not ours, it belongs to God.
