Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
How would you feel having to travel alone through a dark and lonely forest at night without any light? I am sure none of us wold volunteer for this!
The world in which we live in has become very dark because of willful sin and all it's pleasure and is causing many to walk around in the dark, unable to see their way. They have been blinded from the truth of God's Word because of their rejection of it and their refusal to obey it.
We know who these people are. We see them everyday. Some of them are our family members, coworkers, neighbors, children, spouses, friends and even our church brothers and sisters.
The Word of God is described in this text as a lamp to our feet that lights our path. Without it, we stumble and fall in the dark.
In this world, there are many crooked paths and dangerous traps that the enemy has laid out on our journey called life. If we are not careful and leave home without our Word in hands and or in our hearts, we are a target for the enemy.
Are you walking in darkness? God offers light to all those that are still walking in darkness. That light is God's Word. The Word shines with all the necessary lighting needed to walk in the direction that God is leading us. It orders our every step along a sure path with God.
God's Word is a lamp for our feet and a light for our path. To walk in this light that God offers us on today, we must study, learn and most of all, believe God's Word. Then, we must do what the Word says by applying it to our lives daily. In other words, we MUST obey what it says! Our faith must be put into action. There must be some evidence in our lives of what we claim to believe.
The light (Word of God) makes God's direction for our life clear and visible. If we allow God's lamp to light our path, we will not trip and fall in this dark world. Satan will not be able to draw us off the God's intended path for our lives.
Without a doubt, we will not see the way God Is leading us without His Word. indeed we will stumble and fall off the path that God ha set for us because we will not be able to clearly see the correct way in which He is leading us.
Consider God's Word to be a flashlight in darkness. Without it you are unable to see where you are going. Therefore, we must carry the Word of God with us at all times. Psalm 119:11 Thy Word have I hidden in my heart that I might not sin against you.
God has given us His Bible (Word) as a compass to help us find our way to His will for our lives. It is the Word of God the leads us to eternity with God. It is the Word of God has the power unto salvation according to scripture. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes; first to the Jews, then to the gentiles.
Hebrews 4:12 For the Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edge sword, it penetrates even to dividing souls and spirits, joints and marrow; it judges th thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
We must be willing to use the tools God has given us to help us find our way on this journey called life. God' Word and prayer are eternal tools for our souls.
Proverbs 2:1-5 My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, 2 making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding;
3 yes, if you cry out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, 4 if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures; 5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.

The Word of God is authoritative and life changing.
We are exhorted in scripture to walk in the light of the Word in Isiah 2:5- Come descendants of Jacob, let's live in the light of the Lord.
