Deuteronomy 11:26-29 -READ IT IN YOUR SPARE TIME-BLESSINGS AND CURSE! I KNOW THIS IS KINDA LONG, BUT ITS WORTH THE READING.
Moses was preparing the children of Israel for their journey to Canaan, the land of promise, the land that’s flowing with milk and honey.
The children of Israel was commanded to love the Lord thy God, andto serve him with all their heart, mind soul and strength. They were to walk in His ways and keep His commandments, His statues, and His judgments.
Israel had strong reasons to believe in God and obey his commandments. They had witnessed many miracles; the plagues of Egypt, the pillar of fire, the parting of the red sea, water from a rock, manna from heaven and victories in battle over their enemies and on and on. All the miracles which proved not only that God loved them, but that He was with them.
God through Moses, sums up all the arguments for obedience in two words; the blessing and the curse. In verse 26 God says to Israel, “behold I set before you a blessing and a curse; a blessing if ye obey and a curse if you disobey and turn aside to worship other gods which you have not known.
Many people today are doing what Israel had done in the past. They have failed to recognize how far they have drifted away from God.
If there ever was a time for the world to get a made up mind to follow God, the time is now. In verse 29 God says “and it shall come to pass when the Lord thy God hath brought thee in unto the land whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt put the blessing upon mount Gerizim and the curse upon mount Ebal.”
Today we are not not under the curse of the law, but under grace by faith through our Lord Jesus Christ. We are under the new covenant with the law upon our hearts.
God says to Israel and us today that He has called heaven and earth as witnesses against us that He has set before us life and death, blessing and a curse.
Which road will you travel on this journey called life? The time to decide is now. The road that leads to blessing or the road that lead to a curse? Which will it be for you on today? This is a personal question. Choose this day whom ye will serve.
The double mindedness under which so many people operate under will not be acceptable to God. James 1:8 says a double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
A double minded person has 2 ways of thinking, that essentially war with each other. Some people think I can come to church on Sunday and do all the things church people do and then tomorrow I can go out into the world and live as the world lives. That man is unstable, but guess what, he is not hopeless. A new life with Christ is awaiting him or her.
If you return to God, He would receive you as if you never left. It does not matter how far you have wandered from Him, He is merciful and He will receive you back unto Him.
