1 John 4:20 -Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.
1 John 4:20-21 Message Bible-If anyone boasts, “I love God,” and goes right on hating his brother or sister, thinking nothing of it, he is a liar. If he won’t love the person he can see, how can he love the God he can’t see? The command we have from Christ is blunt: Loving God includes loving people. You’ve got to love both.
To love God and not love others is opposite of what the Christian faith is about. When the disciples asked Jesus "what is the greatest commandment in the Law, let's listen to how Jesus answered their question in Matthew 22:36-40 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
According to our text, the love of man and the love of God can not be separated. The two goes hand in hand. The man or woman, boy or gilr that claims to love God and hate others is described as a "liar."
Love God and love one another. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets is what Jesus says. If you base your life and your actions on the love of God and the love of people, you will fulfill God’s command to love ye one another. If your service unto the Lord is only lip service and not through action of love, you are wasting your time. God is love and He commands us to love also.
Scripture declares that is was out of love for us that God sent forth His son, Jesus Christ to die for our sins. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
God loved us so much that he proved it to us in our lowest condition. Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Love ye one another is not an option, it is a command from God!
Saints, we have a choice on today. To live in accordance to how God commands us or to live according to what is right in our own eyes.
Which have you chosen on today? To love or to hate? To follow the spirit or to follow your flesh?
Remember, we are commanded to love God first and then to love ye one another.
Indeed, this is the only choice we truly have.
God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for loving us beyond measure. Thank Him for loving us when we did not have sense enough to know that we desperately stood in need of His love for us.
Love ye one another is the command of the day.
God bless you all.
