Galatians 6:7-8 - Have You Been Deceived Into Believing That A Lie Is Truth?

Galatians 6:7-8 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

Galatians 6:7-8 - Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. 8 Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.

This text is a warning to all those who have been lead to believe that they can out smart their creator, God! Those who have convinced themselves and others that a lie is the truth. How can you be smarter than God,the one who created you? Only a deceiving fool would believing that he or she can outsmart God!

Deception=Trying to make a lie truth.

Someone who is deceived has accepted  a lie as truth. Have you been deceived into believing that a lie is truth? Some people are still there today! Believing every deceptive lies of satan.

I believe that we all have at one time or another in our lives have been deceived. Many are still being deceive today that there is no God, that living according to what is right in your own eyes is the way to live and not the way that is outlined for us to live in God's Word.

Once we have received the truth of God's Word, deception should no longer be our master. After the Gospel truth has entered into us via the Holy Spirit, we should be able to identify deception when it presents itself to us. The more we study and grow in the Word of God, the more our eyes are open to deception. We have something to weigh it against and that is the Word of God.

Therefore, when deception present itself to us, something should raise up out of our belly as a warning that what's being said or done is deceptive and not truth.

We know deception exist! It started with our first parents in the garden of Eden and still exist today. Let's get a good look at deception at the beginning of creation.

Satan is the greatest deceiver! He is the father of lies! Let's listen to Genesis 3:1-13- The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?” 2 “Of course we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,” the woman replied. 3 “It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said, ‘You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’”

4 “You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman. 5 “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.” 6 The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too. 7 At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves.

8 When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man[a] and his wife heard the Lord God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the Lord God among the trees. 9 Then the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” 10 He replied, “I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.” 11 “Who told you that you were naked?” the Lord God asked. “Have you eaten from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat?”

12 The man replied, “It was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it.” 13 Then the Lord God asked the woman, “What have you done?” “The serpent deceived me,” she replied. “That’s why I ate it.”

You can daily reject the Word of God and receive the words of the world all you want to, but I am here to tell you that you will reap what you sow. What the world has to offer is temporary and what God has to offer is eternal.

Eve was deceived. She knew the truth, but chose to accept a lie out of temptation. She knew that God had commanded her not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. But, the serpent convinced her that God had told her a lie saying "You shall not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil". Deception!

The  Apostle Paul warns against false apostles and teachers who will present themselves as apostles of Christ in these last and evil days. Let's listen to 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 - These people are false apostles. They are deceitful workers who disguise themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 But I am not surprised! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 So it is no wonder that his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. In the end they will get the punishment their wicked deeds deserve.

Apostle Paul warns against self deception. Let's listen- 1 Corinthians 3:18 - 18 Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise.

We are personally responsible for making sure we are not deceived. Apostle Paul give us a warning in Ephesians 5:6- Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the anger of God will fall on all who disobey him.

Paul wrote to Timothy, his son in the Gospel, these words: 1 Timothy 4:1-2- Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. 2 These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead.

Jesus give us the solution to deception and that is to seek the truth. Let's listen to John 8:31-32 - 31 So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in Him, If you abide in My word [hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them], you are truly My disciples.32 And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free

When your goal is to be deceptive, who you are fooling? Who are you lying to? Temporarily, you are lying to yourself and others about what you know to be a lie. Who suffers? The answer is yourself and all those you have deceived. Those who have chosen to belieive your lies and not seek out the truth in God's Word. Deception is only deception until it is found out. It is temporary. God's truth is eternal.

Self deception is even worse, because you have convinced yourself of your own lie. Your lie has become your truth. Oh, what a dangerous state to be in. To knowingly and willingly live a life of lies and deception and daily convince yourself that it is right and true is truly a sad state of mind. But, there is hope! Truth that is only found in God's Word!

Deception draws us away from God and His truth.

Have You Been Deceived Into Believing That A Lie Is Truth? Are you being deceived today by someone you love, trust and believe has your best interest? I pray that you seek God's truth that is found only in His Holy Bible.

We are warned in our text on today that we all will reap what we sow. The seeds we plant will produce a harvest. What we plant is what will grow. What are you planting? lies and deception or the truth of God's Word? What are you planting? I can guarantee you this, God is not mocked, therefore, what you sow is what you will reap. No doubt it! What a man soweth, that he shall reap.

Be careful what you plant! You sure will eat what comes up out of your garden. God's Word will not lie nor return to Him void. It shall accomplish that which He sent it to do. If He said you will reap what you sow, that you can bank your life on. It will happen!

What are you sowing? I can only hope and pray that it is seeds of truth and righteousness.

1 John 4:1 - Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.

God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for opening our eyes to the Gospel truth. Thank Him for He is truth and his truth endures to all generation.
