Galatians 6:9 - And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Has exhaustion lead you to want to quit and throw in the towel? Have you said to yourself "I have had enough, this is it? Have you ever been there before? Have you ever found yourself at this place of giving up and calling it quits? Are you there this morning?
Have you ever told God that your burdens are causing you to want to quit in this christian race? Have you found it to be true that when you decided to live for the Lord and serve Him it seems like everything, including life, somehow seemed to have went the opposite of the way you hoped it to go. You’ve become discouraged and wish you could just run away. Have you ever been there??
Well, the good new on this morning is that you’re not alone. In fact, many great people of the Bible experienced lives of discouragement to the point of wanting to quit. Jeremiah was one such person. Moses was one, Jonah was one, Elijah was one, David was one, Debra was one and on and on it goes throughout the bible and throughout life, we see God's people wanting to quit.
Quitting is common to man, but not to God. quitting is not an option for the believer! We are given hope in our text on today that if we do not get weary and quit, there is a harvest that we are guaranteed to reap.
This Christian life is not free from trouble. Apostle Paul delcares in 2 timothy 3:12 - yea and all that live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. Job 14:1- Man that is born of woman is a few days full of trouble.
When the pressures of life seems overbearing, that is not the time to quit. We have an assurance in God's Word that He is our strength when we are weak. He is our joy in sorrow. Nahum 1:7 - The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and He knoweth them that trust in Him. Psalm 61:3-For You have been a refuge for me, A tower of strength against the enemy. Our enemies are sometimes the thoughts that comes to our mind that tells us to "quit" on God.
Psalm 46:1-God is a very present help in the time of trouble.
It is not uncommon to find ourselves in difficult times, that drive us to the point of wanting to throw in the towel and call it quits. Where do we turn in such times to find the motivation we need to keep going? We turn to the Lord who is the God of all comfort.
2 Corinthians 1:3-5 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
In our every attempt to want to give up in the exhaustion of life, God's Word declares in 2 Corinthians 12:9A -But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
Saints, quitting is not an option! In our moment of wanting to quit, when the walls of our lives seems to cave in and our roofs appears to be collapsing, when everything appears to be falling apart, when the enemy of our mind whispers in our ears that nothing is working, nothing is going to change, God has forgotten and forsaken us, just quit and walk away, God is saying to the believer, " stay in the race, your labor is not in vein, do not get weary in well doing; for in due season, you shall reap if you faint not!"
There is a song that Mary Mary sings that is called "Can't Give Up Now". Here it goes.
There will be mountains that I will have to climb. And there will be battles that I will have to fight. But victory or defeat, it's up to me to decide. But how can I expect to win If I never try.
I just can't give up now. I've come too far from where I started from
Nobody told me the road would be easy, and I don't believe he brought me this far to leave me. Never said there wouldn't be trials, etc.
Romans 8:31-What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
DO NOT QUIT! WHY? 2 Timothy 4:8 - in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.
If we will keep our eyes on Jesus, we will learn to endure life as He did and gain victory at the end, as He did.
