Luke 6:46 Why Call Me Lord And Do Not Obey What I Have Commanded You To Do?

Luke 6:46 - "Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord,' and don't do what I tell you?

Many are calling, confessing, telling others about the name of the Lord, but very few are obeying His commands. They are talking Jesus, but walking (living) something else.

God puts it another way in Matthew 15:8 -These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.

Why do we call upon the Lord, knowing that we are not going to obey Him anyway? This is a very dangerous thing to do and it is also displeasing in the sight of God.

Obedience to God's will is more important than anything! Let's use King Saul as our example of one who choose to disobey God. God is more concerned about our obedience than he is about our sacrifices, our church work, our mission work, our money, etc. You can do all the good work you want to, but if you are not obeying the commands of the Lord which He commandeth thee, you are wasting your time. His primary concern is our obedience to His commands. Your soul means more to God than anything! It is priceless to Him and it should be to you too!

Let's look at Saul for a moment! (GOD'S COMAND) 1 Samuel 15:1 - Samuel also said to Saul, “The LORD sent me to anoint you king over His people, over Israel. Now therefore, heed the voice of the words of the LORD. Thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, how he ambushed him on the way when he came up from Egypt. Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’”

SAUL'S DISOBEDIENCE TO GOD COMMAND is seen in vs #7-9 Then Saul attacked the Amalekites all the way from Havilah to Shur, near the eastern border of Egypt. 8 He took Agag king of the Amalekites alive, and all his people he totally destroyed with the sword. 9 But Saul and the army spared Agag and the best of the sheep and cattle, the fat calves[b] and lambs—everything that was good. These they were unwilling to destroy completely, but everything that was despised and weak they totally destroyed.

Where do you stand this morning concerning that which God has commanded you to do?

Are you obeying or disobeying? Is your call on the Lord in vain?

If you are calling and not obeying, these dreadful words found in this text will be your final words. Let's listen to Matthew 7:23 -Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers.

Take heed on today! Do not continue on in your way, but in the ways of God! Remember, obedience is better than sacrifice!

Now is the time to respond God's Way! King Saul is proof of the end result of a life of me, myself and I. Disobedience leads to separation! Which route will you take on today? Obey or disobey?

God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for a warning before the wrath!

I love you all with the love of Christ!
