Matthew 7:24-27 How Have You Built Your House? How Are You Building Your House?

Matthew 7:24-27 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

In this text, Jesus tells us of 2 builders. One is wise and the other is foolish. How have you built your house? How Are you Building your house?

Believe it or not, everyday of our lives we are building. We are either sowing and reaping to the flesh or sowing and reaping to the spirit.

In this text, Jesus lets us know that we have a choice in which type of house we can build.

Confessing Christ is Good, but faith without works is dead! You can talk a good game all day long, but if you are  building your house on "sand" you are wasting your time at a construction site that will continue to build without any progress being made. The sad part about it is that you won't realize the value of your foundation nor see the cracks in it until the final product is displayed at the testing of it.  It is during the test when it is determined if our labor has produced what is should or if it was in vain.

The good news in this is the fact that when your foundation has failed, you can begin to build again. This time it would be wise to build on the "Rock". "JESUS" is the Rock! He is a sure foundation!

Jesus here declares that whoever hears and obeys His Words is liken unto a "Wise Man" that built his house upon a rock. That rock is Jesus. When we build our lives on the principles of God's Word. When the storms of life come, the raging rainy winds begin to blow and the fires of life seems to never cease, we don't have to worry because God won't let us sink, drown nor burn because our Soul is anchored in Him. Our physical man may be shaken, but our spiritual man is strengthen. 2 Corinthians 4:16 - Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.

It is the Lord's will that none should perish. How have you built your house? How are you building your house?
We all are building for temporary shelter or permanent shelter. Which one are you building for?

As important as hearing the Word of God is, we must move beyond the hearing of it to the application of it in our lives.  We are warned in James 1:22 - Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

If we love God as we claim to love Him, then His Word should penetrate our ears and hearts to the point where it moves us to obey it! Obedience is better than sacrifice!

There is another builder that Jesus speaks about in vs# 26-27- This builder "the foolish man", like the "Wise Man", daily hears the Word of God but refuses to believe and obey it. His or her house is build on sand! He or she  feels as if they are their own God. They have no need for God the Father, they have created and established a good life for themselves apart from God and His principles and therefore, God's Word carries no weight against their knowledge and their self created principles.

The foolish builder always on the rock called "Self" which is sure to one day fall. A foundation that is only temporary and weak. When the storm and fires of life comes, their foundation crumbles and they begin to blame God for everything that is happening in their lives. They refuse to accept and obey Him, but they are willing to place the blame of the mess they have made on God. They are willing to acknowledge Him then as the accuser of their troubles.

Jesus give us a choice on today as to which type of builder we can be. We can be a "Wise Builder" or a "Foolish Builder". The choice is ours!

If you do not remember anything else, remember this: One house will stand the test of times and the other will not, for it will surely crumble.

The "Rock" that I urge, beg and plea with you to build on today is found in 1 Corinthians 3:11-For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.

How have you built your house? How are you building your house? Truly, this is a question to ponder on today. Your life now and in the future depends on how you build now. Which will it be for you? Building on the "Rock" or building on "Sand"? Where do you stand this morning concerning this question?

God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for divine direction on today.

I love you all with the love of Christ.
