Proverbs 1:7 – How Are you Operating? Godly Wisdom or Worldly Wisdom?

Proverbs 1:7 Fear of the LORD is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

Knowledge = acquaintance with facts, truths, or principles, as from study or investigation.

Wisdom = The quality or state of being wise; knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just judgment as to action. APPLICATION!

There are 2 types of Wisdom. Godly Wisdom and the World’s wisdom. The wisdom fo the world always leads to chaos and confusion.

Here is what James 3:13-16 says concerning the world’s wisdom – Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. 14 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15 Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

On the other hand, “DIVINE WISDOM”, The” wisdom of God,” leads to order and understanding. Let’s listen to how James describes godly wisdom in 3:17-18 -But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.

Wisdom is one of God’s attributes. When we speak of God’s wisdom, it means His ability to plan or create perfect ends and to achieve those ends by the most perfect means.

God in His Infinite wisdom applies His infinite knowledge so that He attains His goals in a way which He receives the glory. God declares these words in Isaiah 48:11 – “For My own sake, for My own sake, I will act; For how can My name be profaned? And My glory I will not give to another.

Wisdom is something to be desired, possessed and taken hold of.

How do we obtain ” Divine Wisdom?” We are told in our text that it begins with the “Fear of the Lord.” For scripture declares that is is only through reverence, respect and AWE of God and who He is that we begin to obtain “Divine Wisdom.” Proverbs 19:10 declares these words – “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

There is no other way! God is the creator of “Divine Wisdom!”

Divine Wisdom” from God teaches us how to live in a way that is pleasing to God. It teacher us through the lense of scripture, how to apply knowledge to life so as to lead a Godly life. The life in which God has called everyone of us to live.

How are you operating on today? Godly wisdom or worldly wisdom? Which is it for you?

God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for granting us the opportunity to live our life in light of HIS “DIVINE WISDOM!”

I love you all with the love of Christ!
