Psalm 3:1-4 – Cry Out To The Lord In Prayer For He Will Answer

Psalm 3:1-4 – Lord, how they are increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me. 2 Many are saying of me, There is no help for him in God. 3 But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. 4 With my voice I cry to the Lord, and He hears and answers me out of His holy hill.

Are you in distress? Are you burdened and on the run from so many of life’s issues? God offers you hope on today through His servant David.

David wrote this psalm when he was on the run from his own son Absalom who wanted to kill him and overtake
his kingdom. David was in distress and to make matters worse, it was from his own child.

In the midst of anxiety, stress, pain and fear, David did what we all should do, he cried out to the Lord in prayer. He addresses his complaint to God about not only his son Absalom, but many others who trouble him. David continues his prayer by telling God that his enemies even mock him in saying that there is no help for him in God.

Regardless of what was against David, he remained faithful. He knew who God was. David had seen God’s hands work on his behalf when he killed a bear, a lion and the giant goliath as a young shepherd boy. Over and over again, David had seen God work one miracle after another on his behalf!

David’s cry out to God in prayer is an example for all of you who may be going through something on today. Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Tune out the negative and tune into God through prayer and His Word on today! Shut the door on everything that hinders your spiritual growth! Open your ears and heart unto the Word of God! That is where the peace and comfort you need awaits you, not in other people.

The comfort that David found in the midst of his pain is in verse # 4. David said “I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. In other words, he made his petition known unto to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob who is in heaven and He heard Him.

Oh what peace and comfort God offers us today through the testimony and witness of his servant David.
David declares that God is truly a way of escape from all of life’s many test and trials.

When your way seems so hard, the burden seems too heaven to bear, when the fires of life never cease to burn, when all else seems hopeless, God will give you an escape route. 1 Corinthians 10:13 – There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Concerning the thorn in his flesh, Paul petitioned God and here is what the Lord’s answer was to him. 2 Corinthians 12:7-9 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

What is my point? God is not always going to rescue us out of our storms, but He will be right there with us in it. Remember Daniel in the Lion’s den? God did not take him out! Remember the 3 Hebrew boys in the fiery furnace? God did not take them out the fire, he stepped in it. The king said he saw a 4th man that looked like the son of God!

As God told Paul upon his 3rd request to take away his pain and suffering, in the midst of your pain and suffering, God is saying the same thing to you on today. “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness”.

God promises in Galatians 6:9 -you will reap a harvest if you do not faint and give up! Hold on! Help is on the way! There is help for you in Christ Jesus! Mark 9:23 Jesus said to him, If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes. I say to you on today “if you could only believe, all things are possible for you!

God bless and I love you all with the love of Christ.
