1 Corinthians 15:33- 33 Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
In this text Paul warns the church at Corinth to be careful and to understand the danger of bad company.
We too are cautioned to be careful of bad company because it adds nothing to our lives, but only take away. Scripture declares that bad company corrupts good character.
When I was growing up the saints of old would say "you are the company that you keep". In other words, your true identity is defined by the people you associate with.
Eventually, we all become like the people we spend time with. For better or worse, our friends rub off on us and we one them.
How is the company we keeping affecting us? Are they helping our spiritual growth or are they stunting it? Please ponder this question on today.
The company we keep! Who are they? Are they people after God's heart?
Jeremiah 29:13- You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Who are you keeping company with? Are they adding to your life or taking away from it? Is the relationship beneficial to your spiritual growth? Do not be mislead! Be careful who you allow into your life. Everyone does not have your best interest. Some are sent by satan to deceive you! Be careful of the company you keep!
Wrong thinking becomes wrong association, wrong behavior, wrong beliefs and wrong standards.
It is impossible to associate regularly with wrong and not be contaminated by it's thoughts, behaviors and habits.
Luke 6:44-45 - Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
Proverbs 10:20- The tongue of the righteous is choice silver, but the heart of the wicked is of little value.
Our attitude toward people ‘out there’ should be the same as God’s attitude toward people ‘out there’. Be cautious and alert for the devil that roams through the earth seeketh whom he may devour. Please do not let it be us who confess Christ.
Bad company eventually leads to spiritual decay! In this condition of spiritual decay, we are of no benefit to the Kingdom of God.
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Our mind must be daily renewed by the Word of God.
Ephesians 5:15-16 - Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
Remember, bad company corrupts good behavior! You are the company that you keep!
God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for guidance and direct by His Holy Spirit.
