1 John 4:1 - Do Not Believe Every Spirit, Test The Spirit

1 John 4:1 - Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

John gives us a warning in this text concerning itching ears. Do not be so quick to believe everything that you hear is from God. There are indeed false prophets in the world.

We are living in a time where people have itching ears. A time where many want to hear what they want to hear and not God's truth. Everybody wants a word from the Lord. They are always asking, what is the Lord saying? Well, look in the bible because God is speaking there.

Test the Spirit. How? Against the Word of God. Why? Because all spirits are not of God, only the Holy Spirit. We are given a warning in Matthew 7:15 -Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Be aware of the messages that people proclaim. There is a lot out there that sounds like spiritual doctrine, but it is spiritual deceit.

To test the spirit and avoid being deceived by the many false prophets that have gone out into the world today means that we must study and meditate on the scriptures daily. We must be able to discern through the Word of God what is truth and what is not. We are exhorted in 2 Timothy 2:15- Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Not that you study to prove anything, but that you may know the truth and not be deceived by false prophets.

God's Holy presence is testified in our lives first by His love for us, our love for Him, our love for one another, our true confession of faith in Him and the active obedience of His Word in our lives via the fruit of the spirit.

Do not believe every spirit, test the spirit!

Jesus warns us in Matthew 24:5 - For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray.

Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirit to make sure it is of God. I can not over state this enough! Please people, check the book!

Psalm 119:105 105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Study the Word so that you may be able to discern the truth and test the spirit!

Indeed some prophets are sent by God. As Christians, we must be able to test the spirit to determine which are from God and which ones are not. Ephesians 4:11-12 - 11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.

Believe not every spirit, but test the spirit.

Do not leave the salvation of your soul in the hand of any man. Trust God for He will save you. He will lead, guide and direct you in all truth and righteousness through His Holy Spirit.

Believe it or not, many are being lead astray by false teaching. If what you are being taught and what you are hearing does not line up with the Word of God, you better get moving in hurry.

Test your given knowledge against the Word of God and make your decision. To follow God's truth or to fall in the ditch along with the false teachers. The choice is yours.

I am gonna leave you with this scripture from God's Word that is found in Matthew 7;15-20 - “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

Believe not every spirit, but test the spirit to make sure it is of God.

God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for divine wisdom on today!

I love you all with the love of Christ.
