2 Timothy 3:14-15- Is Your Home A School Of The Bible?

2 Timothy 3:14-15 - But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them. And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

This scripture is part of Paul's final charge to Timothy as a Pastor. Prior to this scripture, Paul warned Timothy concerning the perilous times that would come and how people would be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power.

Paul reminds, exhorts, urges, pleas with Timothy to remember not only what he had learned but who he learned it from. Timothy had been taught the Word of God from infancy by two godly women and he must hold true to that which he had been taught and know to be true; The Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Timothy grew up and was taught in a home where bible study and worship to God was a part of the family routine. Daily he saw and heard God through the Word of God that was being taught in his house and the life of a christian lived out before him through his grandmother and his mother.

Is your home a school of the bible? What are you teaching your children? What example of Jesus do they see in their home? Can they say that they have learned about Jesus by the examples they have seen at home? Proverbs 22:6 -6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Parents, believe it or not, your children are watching! What are they seeing? Are you spending time with them in God's Word? Are you talking about God and His Word in your home daily, in your cars, etc? Do you hold a family bible study at least once a week?

There is a colaborer of mine who I study with and have learned a lot from. Her name is Evangelist Vera Polite and she holds bible study in her home every morning with her children. She has been doing it for years. Everyone rises early before school and early on the weekends to study and learn about God. The older ones have grown up and moved out, but the younger ones that are home is still having bible school at home every day.

What examples are we setting before our children? How are we preparing them to meet the dangers of the world? How are we preparing for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? Believe it, those perilous times that Paul warned timothy about over 2k years ago has repeated itself and is now upon us.
Is your home a school of the bible? If not, why?
Timothy grandmother and his mother taught him the scripture from infancy. They started teaching him about God when he entered into the world. The text says from infancy is when he began to be taught. What about us?

Timothy's grandmother and mother knew the importance of teaching Him the scripture from infancy. Why? They knew that the Word of God would make him wise for salvation and would completely equip him for anything he might face in life.

In other words, Timothy would know that the world's way of life is not his only option, but that God has another way that is better. Timothy was taught that God who has a better way is willing and able to help and show him the way if he would gladly receive the Word, believe by faith and submit to it.

It is the Word of God that makes us wise for salvation. Not prestige, money, cliques, wealth, status, titles, material possessions, our family name, our income, etc. None of that can save us. Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. Material and tangible things are good to have for earthly use of course, as long as they do not become our god. But,these things are of no benefit where our soul is concerned. Only when a seed is planted in the ground (hearts of man) will it die and bear fruit. Seed in scripture is described like this in Luke 8:11-The seed is the word of God. The seed of God's Word is incorruptible according to 1Peter 1:23.

James 1:18 - God chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created. Romans 10:17-faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

Timothy lived in a home where he heard, was taught and learned the Word of God. What is your children seeing and hearing?  What are they learning to do from home that they will one day take out into the world? Is it God's Word. If not, It is time to make your home a bible school. If you refuse, satan will use the world to home school them in worldly affairs which will end in their demise, separated from God. Parents, you do have a choice!

The more understanding that we receive from God through His Word, the more closely we will cling to His Word.

When the world has beaten us up as Christians, we have a Rock to run and hide. His name is Jesus. Oh yes, He is the only One!

Parents, if your home is not a bible school I urge you to start today. Too many children are being lead astray by the world because they have never heard or seen Jesus in their homes. We are commanded to do our part parents in training them up in the way they should go. God has made us stewards over our children.

Is your home a school of the bible? I urge you to start today if not! Timothy is our example on today of what the power of the Word of God can do in our lives if we would take the time to apply it ourselves and teach it to our children.

Proverbs 22:15: "Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far from him." What better discipline than the Word of God? There is none. It lasts when all else has failed. It last throughout eternity.

Proverbs 29:15&17 -  The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left undisciplined brings his mother to shame.
17 Correct your son, and he will give you rest; yes, he will give delight to your heart.

Is your home a school of the bible? Let this question marinate in your hearts on today.

God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for continual guidance for life and living now and in eternity.

I love you all with the love of Christ.
