Daniel 1:8 - But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
Determined to live Godly in an ungodly world! Is that where you are on this morning?
As we approach the Christmas Holiday, there will be many temptations to go along to get along. Temptations and the pressures to do what the ungodly do just to fit in.
What will you do when this happens? Believe it or not, the opportunity will present itself. The temptation to do what the world do somehow appear to be greater during the holidays than any other time of the year. The question again is what will you do? How will you respond?
Are you determined to go all the way with God even in a strange place. In an environment where sin abounds, be it your home, workplace, school, neighborhood, etc. Are you willing to say "no" to willful sin? Are you determined to stand for truth and righteousness or are you willing to compromise and go along with the crowd? Are you willing to do in Rome as the Romans do?
We are living in a world where the pleasures and opportunity to turn away from God to sin is unnumerable. Just about any and everything imaginable for sinful pleasure is available to the world today.
Daniel was a young boy who had to face the same question that you and I are having to face today. With all the temptations of being in a strange land away from home, his church and everything that was familiar, Daniel had to make a decision! Temptation was everywhere! The temptation to live ungodly was great because it was the norm for the environment in which he had found himself. In the midst of all of the opportunity to please his flesh, Daniel chose to please God.
He refused to give into the demands of the culture in which he was forced to live!
In Babylon, Daniel swam against the current! He stood for what he knew to be true. He knew that God was God and that God said "there will be no other gods before Me".
Daniel did not have a choice in the location where he was forced to live, but he had a choice int he decisions that he would make in his heart while there. He lived in Babylon, but Babylon did not live in him! Daniel knew he was in the world, but not of the world.
As a part of his training for service in the king's palace, Daniel had to eat a special diet of the king's food and drink. The decision to refuse the kings food and drink was not easy for Daniel and his 3 companions, but they took a chance with God, who had already touched the heart of the king's trainer, who allowed them to come up with their own diet and not the king's diet.
Too many so called Christians are compromising today. They are deceived into believing that in order to get ahead in this world or to be accepted by the world, they must compromise their principles and values. Saints, it is time to rise up to the occasion. Stand up and be true to who you claim to be. it is time to live Godly in an ungodly world, regardless of the consequence. If God be for you, who could be against you?
It is time to stand for truth and righteousness. It is time for Godly living in the midst of an ungodly world and ungodly people.
Living Godly in an ungodly world! Now is the time!
James 4:4 - You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.
Romans 12:2 - Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Saints, are you willing to allow your faith to take you to a place where you stand for Godly principles even though the outcome may not be favorable from family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, children, spouses, etc? Are you willing?
Joshua 24:15a-And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve.
