John 1:11 - He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
Disowned by your own people! Have you ever been there before? Well, our Savior, Jesus Christ been there!
Jesus was rejected by his own people, the Jews. They did not believe in Him, nor obey His voice. They rebelled against Him.
Let's take a peek at how Jesus was rejected among His own people in Mark 6:1-6 -And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? 3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.4 But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. 5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
Many in Jesus day missed out on being touched and healed personally by the hands of God all because of unbelief.
Let's listen to what Jesus said about their unbelief in Matthew 13:58- And so He did only a few miracles there because of their unbelief.
Jesus did not come to earth they way they expected Him to, therefore, they did not recognize Him, which brought about rejection of Him.
Jesus was even rejected by his own brothers. Those who lived in the same house as He. This is not a surprise because it was prophesied in scripture that it would happen. Let's listen to psalm 69:8 - I am a foreigner to my own family, a stranger to my own mother's children.
Jesus did not triumphantly entered into Jerusalem on a white horse to defeat Israel's enemies as they so desired. He entered the world as a baby borned in a manger in Bethlehem, wrapped in swaddling clothes and later in life as a King riding on a donkey and not a King's white horse.
The Jews had waited for generations for the arrival of their "Messiah", The King of the Jews and when we finally arrived, He was not recognized by them, therefore, He was rejected of them.
Jesus came to His own and His own received Him not. Matthew 15:24b- Jesus declares " I was sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel". Jesus was rejected by those whom He came to save from the penalty of sin and death.
Many things were accepted such as tradition, religion, ceremonies and laws. But, Jesus was rejected! These things were done by them in proclamation of their love and commitment to Him, yet when He came, they did not even know nor accepted Him.
Reject all you want! Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He came 2k years ago as "Savior" of the world and He is coming back one day as "Judge"! Will you be ready? Will you be caught in your state of rejection? Where will you stand before Jesus on that "Great Day"?
Have you ever been disowned by your own? Maybe you have been rejected by family members, friends, coworkers, neighbors, spouse, children or even a church brother or sister. I can only imagine the depth of pain you felt when it happened. Or perhaps, the pain that you still feel now if you just recently experienced it.
Regardless of who rejected you, God has not rejected you. He accepts you today as His own. As a matter of fact, He claims you as His own. He calls you "friend" on today.
Sad and painfully as it may be, many are disowning Jesus on today? They have turned to the ways of the world and living according to what is right in their own eyes. Many have turned down God's free gift of eternal life. Salvation by faith in Christ Jesus alone and not of good deeds, good works or kindness. We are saved only one way. Let's listen to Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves:it is the gift of God: Not of works lest any man should boast.
Jesus is it! It does not matter if man agree with this or not. Jesus is the only way that God has made for man to be reconciled back to Him. John 14:6 - Jesus saith unto Him, I am the way, the truth and the life:no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Are you disowning Christ on today? If you are, I urge, beg and plea with you on today to repent and turn to Jesus..
Where do you stand on today? To be reconciled or to continue on in disowning Him? If you have chosen to accept Him, the breath of new life is now in you. You have exited death row and have now entered into life eternal.
Tell someone about the love of Jesus. Invite them to receive Him on today.
God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for giving us a heart to accept and not reject his Son and his atoning sacrifice for our sins at Calvary.
I love you all with the love of Christ.
