Luke 15:4-7–Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6- and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7- I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
A burden for the lost! Are you there yet?
This text is part of what is known as the story of the "prodigal son." In this text, Jesus tells of 3 things that were lost, just to make a point that God the Father even loves the lost sinner. As a matter of fact, it is the sinners like who you and I once were are the ones that Jesus came to die for.
Jesus came to earth to show us exactly who God is and what He is like. This text gives us a portrait of the character and nature of God and His love for all of mankind.
Luke ask a question "what owner would not go after his one loss sheep, even if he had 100?"
What mother or father would not seek after their child who has been reported missing? The point here is that God is no respecter of persons. He loves us all, saved or unsaved.
As a matter of fact, scripture declares in Luke 19:10 For the son of Man came to seek and save the lost. The lost that Jesus came to save includes you and I.
Yes, we might be saved not,but we were once lost. A wretch undone! We all once stood before God as "filthy rags." Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Scriptures declares in 2 Peter 3:9b- that it is the Lord’s will that none should perish, but all come to Christ through repentance.
Do you have a burden for the lost? Is it your desire to see them saved? Do you pray for the lost, do you take the time out of your busy schedule to witness to them about the love of Jesus? Do you follow the Holy Spirit leading when He tells you to witness to someone?
Do you pray daily asking God to give you an opportunity to witness to the lost? Do you have a burden to see the lost saved? If, you do, it is time to get busy. No more lip service! It is time to put faith to our feet. Faith without work is dead! Bottom line!
If you can answer “Yes” to these basic questions above, I have no doubt that you not only have a burden for the lost, but you also have a desire to see the lost saved.
If you truly have a burden for the lost, God will present the opportunity at every turn for you to do just what He need you to do each day concerning the lost.
Luke 15:7 -I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous person who do not need to repent.
A burden for the lost! Are you there yet? If you are, take them to the cross by sharing the Gospel story. Tell the Lost about how Jesus shed His blood and died for the sins of the world, including them. Will you do it on today saints?
Remember, all it take is just one soul to come to Christ by faith and Heaven truly rejoices by having a celebration and when we find our lost sheep, we should do the same.
I love you all with the love of Christ.
