Matthew 11:28-30 - 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Jesus is making a clarion call this morning from heaven to earth. He invites everyone who is weary and burdened to come to Him. His promise is if we would come, we will find much needed rest in Him, for He promises that He will give us "rest".
In the world today, there are many pressures that causes many people to feel weary and burdened down. We all face pressures on a daily basis, but Jesus declares that we do not have to carry them anymore. We can give them to Him and He will carry them for us. Jesus' yoke is easy and His burden is light.
Are you weary? Is your heart restless? Is your burden heavy? If you answered yes to these questions, Jesus bids you to come to Him on this morning for He is declaring to you that He is indeed rest for the weary.
The yoke that Jesus gives us is easy. It is easy because Jesus shares it with us. His yoke is easy because it fits well. His yoke fits to everyone one of our situations individually. Jesus' yoke that is easy is custom fitted for you and I. He love us just like that.
The call to rest is for the unsaved who has been bruised and battered by the sins of this world. The call to rest for the saved is rest from the daily struggle within between the new us that is in Christ Jesus and the old man, the sinful flesh (Adam part of us) that still wants to rule after we are saved. The struggle between the spirit and the flesh.
Jesus offers rest on today from pain, sickness, hurt, anger, abuse, neglect, sorrow, loos, etc. Rest from all the burdens that often tries and sometimes do attach themselves to all of us.
The invitation: "Come"
Where? To Jesus.
Who? All who are burdened and weary.
Why? Jesus yoke is easy and His burden is light.
Jesus has given us an invitation and an opportunity to exchange our burdens for rest. Will you make the exchange? I know without a doubt that you won't regret it, because you will find rest in Jesus.
Everything that we need, God has it. He is gently and lowly in heart. He provides and offers us rest on today four our souls.
Our God is the "Bondage Breaker"! Are you in bondage? Are you burdened down? Give it to Jesus and He will give you "rest".
Take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there.
God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for being a "burden bearer" and "rest" for our souls in a weary land.
I love you all with the love of Christ.
