Matthew 25:1-13 - The Bridegroom Is Coming! Will You Be Ready For His Return?

Matthew 25:1-13- Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. 2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: 4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. 6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. 7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. 13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

The bible declares that one day Jesus will return to receive those that belong to Him. The question to be answered on today is "Are you one of them? Are you daily preparing for His return? Have you accepted Him as your Lord and Savior?

In this text, The bridegroom is Christ. The bride is the church (believers).

In this Parable, the bridegroom was delayed and arrived at midnight. 5 bridesmaids took enough extra oil for their lamps and five did not, therefore, they ran out and had to go and buy more. Well, while they were gone to buy more oil, the Groom had come and gone and the wedding party had started and they were locked out.

I am sure this was the shock of their lives when they called out, Lord, Lord, open to us and heard the voice of the bridegroom say "I do not know you".  Why did this happen? They were not prepared for the Groom's arrival. They did not plan for the what if's, they had banked on what they thought was a guarantee, and that being only the oil in their lamps would be enough.

Are you making preparation to one day meet Jesus?

The best way to prepare for Jesus return is to follow the example of the wise virgins. The wise virgins took enough oil to keep their lamps burning. Accept Christ, study and obey His Word, meditate on His Word day and night, keep believing and keep trusting in spite of.

Matthew 24:27 -  For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Matthew 24: 36-39  But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Matthew 24:42  "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come."

Matthew 24:43 - But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.

Matthew 24:44 - Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

1 Thessalonians 5:2-4 - you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. 3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.

Jesus WILL return at a day and hour when He is least expected. Will you be ready? Are you expecting Him? Are you making preparation to one day meet Him?

Being ready for Christ’s return ultimately involves one major thing and that is "we must be born again" through saving faith in Jesus Christ.

John 3:1-7 - There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

The bridegroom is delayed and the bridesmaids who took extra oil prove to be the wise ones. Wisdom here has little to do with personal intelligence or IQ. Godly Wisdom is a choice. A choice to do all it takes to prepare for the worst while hoping for the best. The foolish ones only hope for the best and did not prepare for the worst.

Proverbs 4:7 - Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

The Bridegroom Is Coming? Will You Be Prepared for His return?

Do not let your oil run out! Fill your lamps with the Word of God, prayer, love for God and mankind, meditation and study of God's Word.

Please do not let this be the answer you receive from Christ!

God bless and do tell the Lord thank you that you are one of the wise virgins and not among the foolish who have not and is still not making any preparations for His return.

I love you all with the love of Christ.
