Matthew 4:4 - Man Shall Not Live By Bread Alone

Matthew 4:4 - But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

These profound words that are found in vs #4 of this text was spoken by Jesus to satan. After having spent 40 days and nights in the wilderness alone without any food or drink, satans came to tempt Jesus, knowing that Jesus was hungry because He had not eaten for 40 days.

What prompted me to this text was the fact that someone posted this message on my facebook page that reads; "THE BIBLE IS MEANT TO BE BREAD FOR DAILY USE, NOT CAKE FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS"! WOW!

There is a "Bread" that satisfies the flesh and there is "BREAD" that satisfies the soul.

What is Jesus' saying to us? Physical bread for the physical body is just that. Bread for the physical man that can only satisfy hunger temporarily. Yes, we must eat to live and not live to eat, but this bread last but for a moment for when we are finish eating it, we quickly become hungry and thirsty again. This bread fails to satisfy for long. It perishes after a while!

The True bread _"The Word of God" is everlasting bread!" Jesus declares in John 6:35 - Jesus replied, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

Jesus is indeed the bread of life from heaven that is sent to earth to fill our hungry and thirsty souls. This bread is not the bread that we run to eat only when our life is in  turmoil, when  trouble has taken up residence in our homes or when we are needy. No, this bread is to be eaten when we want it and when we do not want it. It must be partaken of daily. In season and out of season!  When it heals and when it hurts! We must eat it to live again!

Have you made up your mind? Are you determined on this morning to feed on the bread which last from now throughout eternity?

When we eat the bread that God offers daily and not on occasions as cake, we find ourselves growing stronger spiritually in wisdom, knowledge and understanding of God, His Word, His Wisdom, His Saving Power, His Knowledge and most of all, His Saving Grace.

Here are a few words from an old familiar hymn that the saints of old at Royal Missionary Baptist Church used to sing. The name of it is "Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah. To those of you who remember it, let's sing the first paragraph of it.

Guide me, O thou great Jehovah, pilgrim through this barren land. I am weak, but thou art mighty; hold me with thy powerful hand. Bread of heaven, bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more; feed me till I want no more.

Which bread are you feeding on everyday? Are you full or hunger? If you are still hungry, you are not eating the right bread!

Remember, JESUS' BREAD (The Word of God) is the bread we eat everyday and not the cake we eat on occasions.

I love you all with the love of Christ!

God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for being your "DAILY BREAD"!
