Proverbs 24:17-18 - Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: 18 Lest the Lord see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
In this text, God forbids us to take pleasure in the troubles of our enemy, for He said "rejoice not when your enemy falls, and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles".
Yes, it is in our human nature to harbor anger and bitterness towards our enemies. Yes it is the human nature that wants to see our enemies pay for whatever wrong they may have done to us or someone we know or love, but God says 'vengeance is mine says the Lord." When your enemy falls, do not rejoice!
As Christians, God's command to us and our goal should be to love our enemies. ,Will it be hard? Of course, but God commands us to put forth every effort in making it happen. Therefore, we must daily strive to obey what God's Word teaches us to do concerning those that come against us with intent.
Let's listen to what Jesus says about our enemies.
Matthew 5:43-48 - 43 “You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’[f] and hate your enemy. 44 But I say, love your enemies![g] Pray for those who persecute you! 45 In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. 46 If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. 47 If you are kind only to your friends,[h] how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that. 48 But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.
Luke 6:28 - Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you.
Romans 12:14 - Bless those who persecute you. Don't curse them; pray that God will bless them.
If you have been hurt or offended by someone and hopes to see them fall, I can only pray that you make every attempt to get it right with them instead. Forgive them and ask God to take away all the bitterness and anger that have held you bound over that person's action. It is only in forgiving them and learning how to love them through the leading of the Holy Spirit is how you will learn to love your enemies and not rejoice when they fall.
1 Peter 3:9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that you are thereunto called, that you should inherit a blessing.
Proverbs 16:7 When a man's ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
We all must remember that we have an adversary and his name is satan. His goal is to keep us separate by any and all means possible.
Here is a warning: 1 Peter 5:8-Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. DO NOT LET IT BE YOU!
In This life we will come across people from all walks of life. Some we will get along with and others we won't. We are all humans and as Christians, we can not allow ourselves to become malicious people.
REMEMBER: Do not rejoice over the fall of your enemy! Colossians 3:15 AMP- 15 And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ’s] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always].
God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for divine wisdom in dealing with the enemy.
I love you all with the love of Christ!
