Psalm 27:13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
David declares in this text that in spite of what He has endured in life, his confidence in God and who God is and what God is capable of doing has given him the ability to not only believe God, but to continue on this christian journey and not give up and quit. He has realized that the fight is fixed!
Because of David's view of who God is, The Sovereign God, Almighty God, All Powerful God, David declares that He will wait on the Lord and be of good courage while he wait. Let's listen in vs#14- Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
In other words, yes, life is filled with all types of struggles and adversities, but his faith in the struggle is where his faith is strengthen. He refuses to allow himself to be moved by what he sees with his natural eyes. He is determined, he has a fixed, made up mind that with God He already has the victory. In vs#1 He sees God as his Light (direction) and his salvation(redeemer). No need to quit!
David had some experience with God. He had spent many lonely days and night with just him and the Lord, therefore, he learned to believe God and take Him at His Word.
Indeed, life is constantly presenting to us, circumstances that are beyond our control. It is in those situations, where we must trust God, believe what His Word says and keep the faith and do not quit. If we do this, there is a promise to us from God that is found in Galatians 6:9 -And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
In whatever situation you may find yourself on this morning, do you, by faith, still have the confidence, the assurance, in knowing that you will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living if you faint not?
David has purposed in his heart that there is no turning back for Him. Even in the midst of great trouble or distress, David's pursuit is God.
In spite of what God allows us to go through, keep the faith. Though David had issues, yet he believed God. How about you on today? Do you believe God in your want to quit circumstance?
When our faith is in God, our focus must be on Him too. Count it all joy! Why? Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
David calls us to wait on the Lord because while we are waiting, our inner man is being strengthen.
Under the shadows of God's wing. Oh what a place of rest in God that only comes by faith in Him alone.
Unless I believed, I would have given up and quit!
Stay in the race. Trust God! Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
If you faint not, you WILL see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for His gift of faith.
I love you all with the love of Christ.
