Philippians 3:13-14 - Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. 14-I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
The call today is to press your way through. In other words, "NO LOOKING BACK"!
Have you ever been hurt? Have you ever experienced pain and hardships? Have you ever felt like giving up and throwing in the towel? Of course, we all have.
The point on today is to not place your focus on what has been but what is ahead. Do not worry. Worry stagnates us, it hinders our spiritual growth, it steals our peace and joy and it causes it to take matters into our own hands instead of giving them to God.
We are exhorted throughout scripture not to worry but to pray. Let's listen: Matthew 6:34 So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own.
Instead of worry, the Apostle Paul urges us to use prayer as an alternate route for worry. Let's listen to Philippians 4:6-7- Be careful for noting; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made know unto God. 7- And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
In this text, Paul says, "I have not yet arrived", but I have made up my mind that I am gonna press my way through.
When opportunities come to us that causes us to fear or worry, we have a choice to either allow it to attach itself to us or see it for what it is, trust God and keep moving ahead.
We are called in this text to let go of the past and press our way through those things that have caused us to worry and fret like anger, past hurts and pains, unforgiveness, resentment, bitterness and on and on.
Yes, we are hard pressed on every side, but we must press our way through through those obstacles with prayer and the study of God's Word.
It is only in our daily press through those things that we are daily able to obtain victory in Christ Jesus. There is a blessing in the pressing. You can not give up!
If you are still holding on to the past and not pressing your way through, I know without a doubt that your relationship with God is indeed being hindered.
Remember, your goal this day and forward is to press your way through and not look back. Stay in the race!
It is not those who finish first that gets the crown, but those who endure to the end. Paul says that there is a prize to be won. The crown of life is it! If we quit, we can not obtain it!
Therefore, we must press our way through in spite of the circumstances or current situations in our lives. In other words, we must continue on in this christian race with our eyes on Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith.
With help of the Holy Spirit you can do it. Philippians 4:13- I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Hold on! Help is on the way. Do not get weary in well doing for in due season you will reap a harvest if you faint not. God has something great waiting for you.
I love you all.
