Luke 2:16-20 - And they came with haste, and found Mary, Joseph and the babe lying in a manger. 17-And when they had seen it,t hey made known abroad saying which was told them concerning the child. 18-and all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds 19-but Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. 20-And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and see, as it was told unto them.
God through His angels spoke these profound words to the shepherd that night in the field as they were tending to their flock. Let's listen to Luke 2:12 - And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
The shepherds hurried off in their quest to find the baby Jesus in Bethlehem. When they arrived, they saw Mary, Joseph and the baby.
Having arrived in Bethlehem, the shepherds testifed to Mary and Joseph all that had been told them by the angels concerning this "miracle birth" of Christ.
These shepherds were the first guest of honor. Having found Jesus and His mother and father, the shepherds began to praise and worship God for their eyes have seen the thing which God spoke to them through His angels.
I tried to ponder in my mind, a image of the excitement that these shepherds had after finding the baby Jesus in a manger, wrapped in swaddling clothes as the angels told them they would.
Now think about this for a moment. When the angels appeared to these shepherds they were "shaking in their boots" with fear. But now after having found the baby Jesus, wrapped in swaddling clothing as they were told, they rejoice with joy and excitement that is beyond measure.
I do not believe that our minds could fully comprehend the joy and excitement the shepherds felt that day when they found Jesus.
To add to their excitement of finding the Savior, the joy and excitement about being the first witness to such a miracle itself had to have left them speechless and with extreme joy.
These shepherds had seen the coming of the glory of the Lord in the birth of our Savior, Christ Jesus. Oh, how the tears flows down my face right now as I write to you because God just gave me a flash back of when I met grace for the first time.
Saints, our God is loving, kind, merciful and giving. He is indeed the giver of all good and perfect gift! Look at Jesus! There is none like Him! He and the Father is One!!!
Look at God! Isn't that just like our "Daddy"? He alone can truly fill our hearts with joy and laughter that is unspeakable and unexplainable.
When God offered grace that day to these shepherds, joy unspeakable, praise and worship was the only response needed. Truly, the shepherds had no doubt that salvation for all humanity had come to Bethlehem and the world just like God said it would.
Seeing Jesus, the gift of "Grace" to the world, left the shepherds with no other option but to believe!
Eventually, the whole world would be able to celebrate the coming of this child, but for now, only the shepherds knew what had happened in Bethlehem.
The shepherds response after having seen "Jesus" is the response that should come from all of God's people when we encounter "grace".
Here is how the scripture describe the shepherd's response in vs#20-The shepherds returned to their flocks "glorifying and praising God."
Is this your response to God's "Grace" on today? How did you feel when you came out of the wilderness?
I want to remind you of what the saints of old said how they felt when they met Jesus. They said "I feel Him in my hands, I feel Him in my feet, I feel Him all over me"! Remember that? Rep, me too.
God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for "Grace" has come to save the world. He offers Himself as the ultimate sacrifice for the penalty our sins. Does this cause you to rejoice?
What is your response after having found "Grace"? Ponder this on today.
I love you all.
