Matthew 2:19-23 - But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareath in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, 20-saying, Arise, and take the young child and His mother, and go into the land of Israel; for they are dead which sough the young child's life. 21-And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel. But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither. notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee. 23-And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.
God had previously spoken to Joseph in a dream, commanding him to take Jesus and His mother Mary out of Israel and into Egypt because King Herod sought to kill Jesus.
Now that King Herod is dead, God again appears to Joseph in another dream, telling him to return with Jesus and His mother back to the land of Israel for it was now safe to return because those who sought to kill the child is now dead. Joseph obeys the Word of the Lord and returns to Israel with Jesus and Mary.
After arriving in Israel and hearing that Herod's son, Archelaus now reign in Judah on his father Herod throne, Joseph was again warned by God in a dream, and he took Jesus and Mary to Nazareth and dwelt there.
This city of Nazareth would become the home of Jesus throughout His early years growing up.
Joseph obeyed God! Obedience is better than sacrifice.
From Bethlehem to Israel, from Israel to Egypt and from Egypt to Nazareth was the obedient following of God's plan.
Have you obeyed the voice of God in going where God has commanded you to go?
He told us in Matthew 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. 20-Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
