Luke 2:8-14 - And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
When Jesus was born, God did not use kings or important dignitaries to announce His birth, but instead He sent His angels to Shepherds who were abiding in the fields tending to their flock in the middle of the night.
Imagine this scene in your minds: Like any other night, these shepherds were minding their own business, tending to their sheep when all of a sudden an angel appears. Not only do they appear, but scripture says "the glory of the Lord shown around them". Of course they were afraid because it was at night, but the angels said to them "fear not"!
Let's listen to the good new that the angels brought to the shepherds in vs# 10-11- And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.
Look at God! He used shepherds to deliver a divine message about His son who would one day become the "Lamb" that will be slaughtered just to take away the sins of the world.
No greater news could ever be announced to this sinful, fallen world than the glad tidings of great joy that a Savior has come to this world to save His people from their sins.
Does it being joy to your heart in knowing that the Son of God became flesh for you and I? Do you realize that it is nothing about us that causes us to deserve such "Grace", but it is only because of God's love and mercy for us that He did it?
Our knowledge of God's grace and mercy towards us should cause us to "rejoice"!
If you have accepted God's Gift, "Jesus" as your Lord and Savior, you too have a reason to rejoice over this "Good News" that s Savior has come into the world to die for our sins.
God bless and do tell the Lord thank you His Son, Jesus who paid the ultimate price for our sins so that we may live in eternity with Him.
I love you all.
