15-And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, 16-let us now go unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known to us.
When the shepherds heard the Word of the Lord through the angels, how did they respond? Did they go and pray to God for confirmation about what they had seen and heard? Did they go seek out the scholars for answers to make sure what the angels said was correct?
The Shepherds response to the angel's message was "let us now go unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us."
The Shepherds believed the angels were sent from God and by faith they set out to see this miracle for themselves. In other words, they put feet to their faith!
Shepherds, the outcast of society, smelly, dirty, unclean men were the people that God chose to get first hand news of this miracle birth. They were the first to hear the "Good News" straight from the mouth of God Himself who had made the greatest event in the history of the world known to them first.
That's just like God! He uses the simple to confound the wise.
The Shepherd's journey to find the baby Jesus was one of excitement and joy. They wanted to see this miracle for themselves and they could not wait, therefore, they left immediately after hearing the "good news" of glad tidings.
When the shepherds heard this "good news" of glad tidings from the mouth of God Himself through the angels, they believed it and got moving in a hurry. Romans 10:17- Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.
What has hearing the Word of God caused you to do? It should move you to do something! It moved the shepherds to go seek Jesus.
The shepherds were fill of joy and excitement after hearing the "good news' of glad tidings. Does the Gospel bring you joy? It should.
The Savior has been born to take away the sins of the world. Your sins and mine. That is glad tidings!
I love you all.
