Philippians 4:8- Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.
The opportunity for negative thinking meets everyone of us at every corner and crossroad in life. They are of no benefit to anyone! Negative thoughts not only harms you, but others that are and are not connected to us.
Short comings, hard times, prejudice, rejection, oppositions, distractions and injustice are just a few of numerous things that can cause us to focus on the negative.
The Christian thoughts are not to be thoughts of unkindness and meanness, but one of love and kindness.
Regardless of what you have been dealt with in this life, on today, God, through the Apostle Paul Exhorts us to focus on what builds us up and not what tears us down.
In other words, we must learn to view life's negative opportunities through the lense of God's Word because it is the Word of God that transforms what we see into what God's sees, which is the opposite of human view. We have limited vision. God sees and knows all things.
What we as Christians must realize is the fact that we receive the "peace of God" when we meditate on "the things of God." That is the key to changing what we see to what really is!
We must be willing to change our view based on what God shows us in His Word. When this happens, we will be changed from being a victim in our mind to becoming a "victor" through Christ Jesus.
Instead of filling our minds with destructive, distressing, anxious filling thoughts, Paul calls us to concentrate on things. What things? Things that are true, noble (honorable, worthy of reverence), things that are right (God's Word), and things that are pure (thoughts that are morally pure).
Yes, our thoughts matter and they have power! Negative thinking leads to negative responses which leads to negative action and negative living. Our actions will be developed by what we allow our minds to think about.
Proverbs 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.
When we begin to put into action, 2 Corinthians 10:5- Casting down imaginations, and every high things that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ, then we can begin to focus on those things that the Apostle Paul exhorts us to focus on today and everyday in our lives.
What we choose to focus on determines if we grow spiritually or fall to defeat of negative thoughts.
Focusing on the negative corrupts your thinking, but focusing on the things that are true, right, honorable, pure, lovely and praise worthy can do us all the good. For it is thinking on these things that our thoughts become pure.
What are we focusing on? What have you been thinking about lately? Is it something that we would want the world to know about? Is it something that would make you shamed or embarrassed?
We all have thoughts! Let us think on the things that are pure ,good, honest, lovely and of a good report, according to God's Word.
God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for His Word is pure, true, honest, lovely, sharper than a two edge sword and is a good report.
I love you all.
