Matthew 6:6 - But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Pray to the Father in secret! This is the command on today.
Jesus sat down and not only taught His disciples the importance of prayer, but secret to private prayer. Jesus says to them, when you pray, get alone, shut the door behind you and pray to the Father in secret.
In other words, Jesus is saying that prayer is not about a public demonstration, but intimacy with Him in a secret place.
Yes, it is in a secret place, (a physical closet, your car, at a lake in a boat, car, on your porch, in the woods, in the open field, on the beach, on a park bench, a chair in your favorite room with the door closed, etc) are a few of the places where we can go and spend one on one time with God. A place where the world is shut out and God is allowed to freely enter in. A place where our heart is the altar for true worship. A place where we pour out and God pours in.
Intimacy with God requires us to separate our mind, body, spirit, soul and will from the world and attach them to God through prayer in secret. James 4:8a-Come near to God and he will come near to you.
Too many people today are praying with the door open. Prayer that feeds the flesh and not the soul. Prayers from the soul must be offered with the door shut. Jesus says to enter into your closet and shut the door.
God has made it possible for us to know Him and experience an amazing transformation in our lives because of our encounter with Him.
The most wonderful thing about entering into your secret place and approaching God is that He will never turn you away. John 6:37 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.
Have you entered your secret prayer closet called the treasure room? A place where Jesus promise that your rewards of secret prayer will generate through.
If you open your heart and let Christ in, your Father who sees what you do in secret will reward you openly for all eyes to see. The world will have no doubt that you have not only been in the presence of the Lord, but that He has blessed you abundantly.
Jesus' declaration of "rewarding us openly" brings to mind Psalm 23:5a Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.
Praying in secret! A place where God is calling all of us to come on today. A place of everlasting love, peace, joy and hope.
The secret closet! Hummm!! Has God been allowed to intimately enter into your heart there? He desires to do so.
God bless and do tell the Lord thank you.
I love you all.
