Luke 2:1-7 -In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the entire inhabited earth should be taxed. 2 This taxation was first made when Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 And everyone went to his own city to be taxed.
4 So Joseph also departed from the city of Nazareth in Galilee to the City of David which is called Bethlehem, in Judea, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be taxed with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. 6 So while they were there, the day came for her to give birth. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in strips of cloth, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
The Old Testament Prophet Micah prophesied that the birth of Jesus would take place in Bethlehem.
Micah 5:2 But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, although you are small among the tribes of Judah, from you will come forth for Me one who will be ruler over Israel. His origins are from of old, from ancient days.
The trip to Bethlehem that fulfilled the prophesied birth of Jesus in Bethlehem.
If God makes a promise or speaks a Word out of His mouth or through His servants, you can rest assured that it "WILL" come to pass. Isaiah 55:11-so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Yes, Caesar Augustus made a decree that all should go to their hometown and pay taxes, but it was a divine order orchestrated by the will of God.
Yes, Joseph having to return to his hometown, Bethlehem to pay taxes was also orchestrated by God. Every detail of this trip to Bethlehem had already been preordained by God even before the foundation of the world.
The Bethlehem birth was not a coincidence or a happenchance, but this was "Divine Providence". Believe it or not, God orchestrated every detail of the betrothal of Joseph and Mary, the virgin conception, the child’s name, the dreams, the Bethlehem trip in Mary's 9th month of pregnancy, no room at the inn and the birth at Bethlehem, the baby wrapped in strips of cloth and placed in a manger was all God's design and plan before it all ever took place in the earth.
Just like Mary, Joseph and Jesus, God has a plan for our lives too. He knew us too even before the foundation of the world. He knew us even while we were in our mother’s womb. He knitted us together. He knew and still knows the plans that He has for our lives and He knows what choices we will choose even before we choose them.
This Christmas, God calls us to open up our heart and receive His Gift called "Jesus". The One who was born to die just for you and I.
If you do not know Jesus for the pardon of your sins, I urge, beg and plea with you on today to open up the doors to your heart and taken down the "no vacancy" sign for Christ wants to come in and live on the inside of you.
Christ was preordained by God for the saving of man's soul. If you do not let Him enter in, you will die separated from Him throughout eternity if you die with the "no vacancy" sign hanging from your heart.
God loves us enough to send forth a prophecy of the "Promised Savior" to redeem His people and allow Him to put on flesh and come to earth to do just that.
Will you accept “Jesus” on today? The prophecy concerning His birth was a personal promise being sent from God directly to you and I. Once we transition from death to life, we will live eternally either with God in heaven or separated from Him in hell.
This Christmas, make the Bethlehem prophecy your personal prophecy by allowing it to be fulfilled in your heart.
God bless and I love you all.
