Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.
In looking at all the chaos in the world daily, it is a clear reminder that God is the only one we can trust. Therefore, if you have not done so, now is the time to put your trust in the Lord.
Throughout the word of God we are exhorted to "trust in the Lord'.
What does it mean to trust God?First let me tell you what it does not mean.
Trusting God does not means that we close our eyes to reality. No, we see reality for what it is without denial. But, in spite of what we see that is so real before us, we turn our focus to God who is a very present help. Our Sovereign, all sufficient God who does not tremble nor waiver.
We cry out to Him in prayer and through His Word, trusting and believing what His Word says concerning us because we belong to Him.
To trust God is to believe God, to take Him at His word, to rely and depend upon Him, to submit to His will for our lives, to surrender the fight for my way and let God take the lead, knowing that He knows my end from my beginning.
Remember King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20? When He heard that a great number of enemy armies were at their front door and coming against him and God's people, what did he do? The bible says he "trusted God"! They came together on one accord, seeking God through fasting and prayer.
Let's listen to how Jehoshaphat prayed to God by giving God His Word back in 2 Chronicles 20:6-15 “O Lord God of our fathers, are You not God in the heavens? And do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations? In Your hand are strength and might, and there is no one who can oppose You. 7 Did You not, our God, drive out those who lived in this land before Your people Israel, and You gave it perpetually to the descendants of Abraham, who was in covenant love with You. 8 And they have dwelled in it and have built in it for You a sanctuary for Your name saying, 9 ‘If disaster comes upon us, the sword, or judgment, or pestilence, or famine, then we will stand before this temple and before You because Your name is in this temple. And we will cry out to You in our distress, and You will hear and deliver.’
10 “Now here are the sons of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir, whom You did not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt, when they turned away from them and did not destroy them. 11 See how they are rewarding us by coming to drive us out of Your possession, which You have given us to inherit. 12 O our God, will You not render judgment on them? For we have not strength enough to stand before this great army that is coming against us. And we do not know what we should do, but our eyes are on You.”
13 Now all of Judah was standing before the Lord, even their infants, wives, and children.
14 And in the midst of the assembly the Spirit of the Lord came on Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite from the line of Asaph.
15 And he said, “Pay attention all Judah, and those dwelling in Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the Lord to you, ‘Do not fear, nor be dismayed because of this great army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s
BOTTOM LINE: Put the Word of God on the situation! Give God His Word back!
Jehoshaphat trusted God. He knew that the armies was too great for Him and God's people to fight, therefore, he sought the Lord in prayer. The God whom he know was able to fight and win the battle.
God replied back to them "This battle is not your's, it belongs to the Lord"! GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY!! Who can stand against our God? NONE!!
If you read the rest of the story, you will see where the enemy destroyed themselves. God made sure of it!
This is what we have to do too!! Seek God in prayer and His Word. The Apostle Paul declares in Romans 8 that nothing shall separate us from the Love of God which is in Christ Jesus. With God, we got the victory! I don't care what it looks like! We must believe that!!!
The command today is (1) trust in the Lord with all your heart, (2) lean not unto your own understanding, (3) acknowledge God in all our ways (4) the promise is that He will direct our path.
As humans, we are so dependent upon self-sufficiency, but on today, God calls us to be like Jehoshaphat and call on the name of the Lord for He promises to hear and answer our prayers. Know this "OUR ENEMY IS ALREADY DEFEATED" through Christ Jesus!
Have you found yourself in a place of why Lord? How Lord? When Lord? If Lord? If your answer is yes to at least one of these questions, it is time to trust God with your whole heart.
I remember when there were times when I thought I was trusting God and when trouble came, I began to fear and worry and when God came through in spite of me, I had to repent over and over again to God for not trusting God and focusing on my problem and not my God the problems solver.
As our faith grows, our trust in the Lord grows. Stay in the word, keep praying, keep believing for God has not forgotten us!
Yes, we all have questions, but God has all the answers. Take our burdens to the Lord for this is what He commands of us this day and every day. Let's listen to 1 Peter 5:7- Cast your cares upon Him because He cares for you.
When we finally make the decision to surrender to God's will for our lives, we will see the hands of God moving on our behalf in ways never imagined.
Trust God on today people of God! He knows where we are, He knows what we are going through and He knows that we need to put our trust and hope in Him on this day and everyday for He is a faithful promise keeper.
The time to trust God is now!
God bless and I love you all.
