Acts 16:25-And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God:
What will you do at midnight? What will you do when the storms of your life begins to rage without ceasing?
What will you do when you have prayed and hoped that things would get better for you, but instead they got worse? What will you do when it appears that all hope is gone? What will you do when everyone you thought you could count on does not show up on your behalf and even God Himself seems to be absent?
What will you do at midnight? A time when it looks like the enemy is winning and you as a Christian is being defeated, according to the natural eyes. What will you do? What will you do when the enemy of your mind says " no need to go on pressing your way, just give up!"
Midnight! You can see it in one of 2 ways. You can see it as the ending of something old and beginning of something new or you can see it as a carry on from previous hours. I see it as the beginning of a new opportunity and a new day.
Midnight is the darkest hour of the night. It is the end of one day and the beginning of another. It is the hour of the night when the enemy of our mind seems to take us farther than we want to go with worry, doubt and fear, but God’s Word declares this to us on today in 2 Timothy 1:7 - For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
What did Paul and Silas did at midnight when they had been falsely accused, arrested based on lies, beaten, imprisoned, placed under guard, with their feet bound in stocks for nothing more than preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and casting out a demon in a young girl who had a spirit of divination was pray and praise God?
In praying and singing hyms unto the Lord, Paula and Silas were bearing witness to their faith in God Almighty in spite of their horrible circumstance. Paul and Silas transformed a Philippian dungeon from a prison of pain and suffering to a prison of praise!! GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY!!!
Midnight! How does you as a Godly woman or man respond to such a turn of events? You are going about doing the Lord's work as Paul and Silas was on their way to the river for prayer services in Philippi and all of a sudden, up come the spirit of satan against you through those who do not know God. Either through ignorance, choice, denial, rejection, etc. How do you respond?
What do you do when you have done what the Lord has told you to do and still yet you are persecuted, rejected, hated, ignored, falsely accused, etc. what do you do?
The world says to seek revenge. An eye for an eye. Our example through Paul and Silas shows us that this is the time to seek the Lord.
In the darkest hour of the night, Paul and Silas chose to pray and sing praise unto God. Yes, shackled, beaten, bleeding and lying on a cold, wet dirty dungeon floor, these 2 men decided that they would pray and give God the praise in spite of persecution and suffering. We too must do the same!
By giving God the praise and glory in the midst of suffering and persecution, God caused an earthquake to shake the prison and the shackles fell off of all of them in that were in the prison that night. Because of Paul and Silas prayer and praised to God, everyone was set free that night!
Who has been set free because of your testimony about your imprisonment and how God delivered you?
God has a purpose in our suffering that is greater than us. In allowing Paul and Silas to be imprisoned, souls were saved in jail that night. The unsaved jailer who kept watch over them asked "what must I do to be saved" ? LOOK AT GOD!!!!!! No one is out of his reach!
Pain and suffering in the midnight hour resulted in a miracle in an unusual place called a “Philippian prison”. A miracle that only God can take credit for.
Anybody can sing and give God praise when life is good, you’ve got money in the bank, your marriage is strong, your kids are doing well, you’re happy in your job and it appears that you need nothing. But the true test of life are seen in the ditches and trenches of life when all hell is breaking loose in your life.
One thing about trouble, it proves to you and the world what or who you believe in and what we are truly made of.
In the midnight hour, God is calling us to remain steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.
Keep praising, keep believing, keep trusting, keep calling on the name of the Lord, keep the faith and most of all, keep hope alive for in Christ Jesus you already have the victory.
The apostle Paul declares in Romans 8:38- For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities nor powers, neither things present nor things to come, 39 neither height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The midnight hour! What will you do when it comes knocking at your door? If midnight has not visited you yet, keep living!
Paul and Silas along with God Almighty leaves us with an example on today in what to do in the midnight hour and the results of it.
Remember this: when the prison doors slams behind you and you find yourself locked down in the shackles of pain, sorrow and problems, turn your heart to heaven for God promises to hear and answer your prayer. He will give you the strength needed to open your mouth and lift up your voice in prayer and praise to Him too.
God always gets the glory out of prisoners who choose to pray and sing praises to Him, even yet while they are still imprisoned.
Midnight! Are you prepared for it? Now is the time to put on the whole armor of God for midnight is indeed coming.
God bless and I love you all.
