Joshua 1:7-8 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest. 8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
For forty years, Moses had led the children of Israel in the desert on their way to the land of promise which God promised Abraham. Moses is now dead and God has called Joshua to lead His people.
God had and still has a plan and many blessings for His people, but it could only be possessed God's way.
To possess the blessed land of Cannan that awaits Israel on the other side of the desert, there are some conditions that had to be met by Joshua and the people.
First, Joshua, their leader who had spent 40 years being trained by Moses, the former leader, must be strong and courageous says the Lord.
Second, Joshua must also be careful to do according to all the law that Moses had commanded him to do. He can not turn from it to the right nor to the left if he planned on being successful in possessing and claiming the land as their own.
Third, God's Word shall not depart from his mouth and his thoughts. He must not only speak it, but meditate on it day and night and obey what it says.
In doing as God says, they are guaranteed victory. Scripture says "that you may prosper wherever you go." In other words, if you obey God's commands you will have a successful victory.
These same promises are available to us on today. We too must be devoted to both the will and to the Word of God! We can not be double minded and waiver back and forth between 2 opinions. We can not afford to turn from the Word of God to the right nor to the left.
In other words, to receive the promises of God successfully, we must have complete allegiance to God and to His Word alone.
It is only in the obedience of doing things God's way that we will have true success and our ways would be forever be prosperous.
Man has a plan to success and prosperity that is temporary. God's plan of blessing and success for our lives are everlasting.
Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
Joshua 21:43 - So the LORD gave Israel all the land he had sworn to give their ancestors, and they took possession of it and settled there.
God's plan for your life is the best plan!
God has proven over and over again in all of our lives that He is a "Promise Keeper". He took Israel and all of us who are saved from wandering in the wilderness of defeat to living in a land of victory through Christ Jesus.
God's plan to a blessed and successful life can never be apart from obedience to God's Word.
We can learn from Joshua and the children of Israel that those who experience God blessings are those who obey Him.
God has provided us with all that we need for life and living through His Word that is found in the bible.
The command on today is to speak God's Word continually out of our mouth, think on them continually and obey His Word faithfully.
If we use the tools that God has provided us for a blessed and successful life, God promises that our way "WILL" be prosperous and we will have good success.
God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for providing all that we need for life and living.
I love you all.
