Proverbs 22:5 - Thorns and snares are in the path of the wicked: whoever guards his soul stays from them.
In this text, we are given a comparison of an evil person who is snared in the trappings of earthly things and then a person who is walking in the Light of Jesus on the straight path which leads to everlasting life.
This evil person, here, not only sets traps for others, but has thorns and snares in his own way because he is disobedient to God.
Snares, traps and pitfalls are in what? the way of those that are evil and wicked.
The one who chooses to live in evil rebellion against God will end up on a path that is hedged in with thorns and snares.
Those who have no regard for others find themselves on a path of problems. The person, who keeps his soul, walks in the path that the Lord has provided for him. A path that is straight, narrow and well lit with the lamp of God's word.
Choosing the path of evil is foolish. It leads to a path of destruction and separation from God.
If you know there is particular areas in your life that is constantly being a trap to you, then you "MUST" set up a safeguard in your life to avoid it.
The best way to guard your soul from the snares, traps and pitfalls of evil would be to choose a different route. To take the way of God's Word verses the way of the world.
If you guard your soul with prayer and the Word of God, you will stay away from evil.
Rebelling against God rewards you nothing but pain and sorrow.
The way of the wicked is a path full of thorns which pricks them at every turn.
Those who walk in the way of the Lord, in His righteousness will not find themselves being pricked over and over again by thorns and snares because God is our shield of protection. He is the one that is keeping us from evil and the evil one.
Proverbs 15:19- The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.
Be mindful of the thorns and snares along the way.
If you are constantly being pricked by thorns, snares and pitfalls, you are on the wrong path.
God bless you.
