Philippians 4:6 - Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
In looking at all the chaos in the world, the opportunity to worry and not pray appears to be the norm of the day for many people. But, on today, God through the Apostle Paul lets us know that worry does not ever have to be an option for the believer.
I am sure everyone’s desire is to have a stress free and worry free life. We all want lives that are free of burdens, worry and fear, but how do we get it? By trusting God and not self or what we see or know.
Fear and worry brings on all kinds of negative emotions. Depression, broken relationships, financial issues, spiritual issues, discontentment, anger, rage, regrets, bitterness, misery and on and on.
In this text, the Apostle Paul informs us that we have a choice in how we handle fearful and anxious circumstances and situations that are guaranteed to come our way.
In other words, we have a way of escape when it comes to worry and fear. We can choose to be anxious or we can choose to trust God and take it to Him in prayer.
God wants us to have "peace" in all things. The Peace that God gives surpass all understanding. His peace gives us rest in the midst of life's storms.
God is calling us to trust Him on today, regardless of what circumstance or situation that may have presented itself to us as an opportunity to worry or be anxious.. When we worry, we show that we are not trusting God.
Nothing that happens in our lives catches God off guard. He knows what we have to deal with on a daily basis, He knows all that we have been through and will go through.
God cares about us, therefore, He calls us to cast our cares on Him today for He cares for us. If we do, He promises to take care of us.
As people of God, we should pray instead of worry. Paul says to pray to God. First, we must acknowledge God for who He is. Then we are to come to God's throne of grace and mercy with confidence in making our request known unto Him. We are to also come with confidence in knowing that He will hear and answer our prayer.
According to scripture, worry adds nothing to our lives. Let's listen to what Jesus said to His disciples about worry in Luke 12:22-31-
Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24 Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life[a]? 26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?
27 “Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 28 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith!29 And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30 For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
God wants us to fill our hearts with what is good. Let's listen to Philippians 4:8 - "whatever is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, of good repute, excellent worthy of praise. Let your mind dwell on these things."
When the opportunity to worry presents itself, pray to God with thanksgiving for what He has already done. Pray by faith, believing that you have already received that which you have asked of God. Matthew 21:22-If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.
As you go out about your day on today, remember that the answer to unexpected opportunities to fear and worry is "prayer" with thanksgiving.
Worry adds nothing to life, therefore pray in all circumstances to God the Father in Heaven.
God bless and I love you all.
