Psalm 136:1-3 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. 2 O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever. 3 O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.
The Psalmist of this text sends our a resounding command for praise and thanksgiving on today to God our Father. He not only commands us to to give thanks and praise, but he tells us why we should praise our God.
The reason for his command is a truth that we all can attest too. A truth that can not be denied! Let's listen to why the psalmist sent forth this great command.
We are told in vs#1-that we should send forth praise and thanksgiving because God in "Good". In vs#2 we are told that we should do it because He is "God" of gods. There is no other besides Him. vs#3 tells us that we should do it because He is "Lord" of lords.
If we look throughout the world, we will see many home made and man made gods, but there is only one true and Living God who is Sovereign over all the universe.
We should praise and thank God for He is good, He is the God of gods and He is Lord of Lords.
Because of who God is, He is able to extend His mercy to us forever by means of His loyal and unfailing love towards us.
God expects us to be thankful for who He is to us and for all He has done for us.
Are you thankful to God?
1 Thessalonians 5:18- In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" .
God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for his mercies towards you and I endures forever.
