James 1:8 - Are You Double Minded?

James 1:8 - A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Are you double minded? A person with 2 minds that wars against each other? A mind that is sure of one thing and doubtful of another.

We can not believe God and His Word one minute and then the next minute we doubt Him. We have to decided whether we believe God not.

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways according to scripture. He is doubtful and not sure of the hope that God has given to them that believe.

Scripture declares in Hebrews 11:1- Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. In other words, now faith is sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

As Christians, we believe by faith, even if we do not see the evidence yet. We believe it because God said it!

Those who are double minded do not have the kind of faith that is required to please God. Unwavering faith.

Jesus Himself declares in Matthew 21:21-Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen.

God is not double minded. He is stable in all his ways.

Job describes the  mind of God this way in Job 23:13- But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.

God is described by Malachi 3:6a-"I am the LORD, and I do not change.

God is described this way in Hebrews 13:8 - 8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today and forever.

Why is it not good for man to be double minded in our opinions and in our purpose? Let's listen to what scripture has to say concerning this question. Matthew 5:24- No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

The Apostle James has this to say concerning a doubting man or woman in James 1:6-7-if you lack faith, ask God who freely gives it. For a doubting man is like a way of the sea driven with winds that are tossed to and fro.

James goes on to say in vs#7 that a doubting man should not think that he shall receive anything from the Lord. God is not moved by our good works, skills, talents, kindness or our tears. Scripture declares that without faith, it is impossible to please God.

Man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart of man.

Are you double minded? If you are, I can only assume that you are restless and confused in your thoughts, actions and behavior. I am sure there is continual conflict with the 2 minds that are constantly trying to determine which direction in life to take.

As scripture commanded on today, if you lack wisdom, ask God who will give it to you freely.

Stop wasting your energy trying to live for the world and God at the same time. The adversary, satan, has you confused into believing that you can serve God and the world at the same time. It is a lie that is impossible!  You are only fooling yourself because you can not serve 2 masters at the same time.

You are either with God or against Him.  Matthew 12:30-Anyone who isn't with me opposes me, and anyone who isn't working with me is actually working against me.

Where do you stand on today? Are you double minded? Are you toggling back and forth with God and the world? It is time for a change? Choose ye this day whom you will serve for no man can serve 2 masters.

Remember, a double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

God bless and I love you all.
