Romans 12:2-Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God--what is good and well-pleasing and perfect.
Conform-: to fashion or shape one thing like another; “to conform one’s self (i.e. one’s mind and character) to another’s pattern, (fashion one’s self according to)”. to be similar to or the same as something; to obey or agree with something; to do what other people do : to behave in a way that is accepted by most people.
The pressure to conform to the world's standards are greater now than ever. People everywhere around the world in one way or another are conforming to the fashions, walk, talk, attitude, dress, material possessions, mind set and thoughts of those who have no regard for God nor His Word.
This conformity to the world standard is not only happening among young people, but sad to say, also among adults who should be setting examples of Godly living and standards.
The danger with conformity is the that it is easy to be persuaded into doing what you know is wrong just to get along or just to be a part of a group or a clique.
The spirit of this world encourages mankind to continue on in their natural condition of separation from God because of our sins from our first father Adam.
The spirit of this world comes from the evil one, satan, who has power and dominion over those who have not been transformed or renewed in their minds by the Spirit of God through the power of His Holy and written Word.
The spirit of this world, or conformity to it, manifest itself in ways that are contrary to the spirit of God, but in likeness to satan and his power of deception.
Satan is deceiving the world today with the same weapons he used in the garden of eden with our first mother Eve. Let's listen to 1 John 2:16- "All that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world".
The world says to seek everything that is visible. Crave and desire more and more of what you see. God says the opposite. He calls us to seek that which is not seen, but eternal.
Let's listen to 2 Corinthians 4:18-While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
If you are one who have been living according to the world standard, you are being called by God to "come out" from among them. Be ye not conformed to the standards of this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may know what the will of God is in Christ Jesus concerning you.
You no longer have to live a life of condemnation from our first father Adam. You can be renewed in Christ Jesus through a personal relationship with Him.
2 Corinthians 5:17- If any man in Christ Jesus is a new creation. The old has passed away and behold the new has come.
As a new creation in Christ Jesus, you are no longer condemned as a sinner. Romans 8:1-There is now therefore no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus. Those who walk after the spirit and not after the flesh.
Romans 5:19-Because one person disobeyed God, (Adam) many became sinners. But because one other person (Jesus Christ) obeyed God, many will be made righteous.
The command from God today is "be not conformed to this world" but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. How do you renew your mind? Romans 10:17-Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.
Our minds are daily renewed as we daily study and meditate on God's Word. The word of God is eternal.
The world and all it's pleasures will one day be no more. 1 John 2:17-And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.
Which have you chosen on today? To conform or not to conform?
God bless and I love you all.
