27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
Jesus had just finished a very busy day of ministry. He had just finished the feeding of 5k men, not including women and children.
After this great missionary work, Jesus immediately forced the disciples to get into a boat and go ahead of him to the other side of the sea of Galilee while He dismissed the crowd.
Jesus Himself had then went up on a mountain by Himself to pray.
Having obeyed, Jesus the disciples encountered a fierce storm at sea as they neared the middle of the sea of Galilee.
Wondering where Jesus might have been, the disciples became fearful because the storm seas and heavy winds and rain had caused the water to begin to fill the boat they were traveling in.
The bible said that it was in the 4th watch of the night, the hour where the storms of our minds seems to rage the most is when Jesus showed up walking on water with this command to his disciples; "It is I, fear not"!
Oh what great words of comfort Jesus offers in time of hopelessness and despair! "Fear not, It is I”!
Fear has always been a part of human existence. In the garden of Eden, having disobeyed God, Adam and Eve were fearful.
Nothing has changed. People are still caught up the grip of "fear" on today, but Jesus says we have nothing to fear. It is He who has made us and not we ourselves. God knows all about us. Scripture declares that He knows our name and He knows every strand of hair on our heads.
Whatever fearful situation or stormy circumstance you may find yourself in on today, Jesus speaks these same words to you that He spoke to His disciples that dark and storm night at sea. "It is I, fear not”!
It is I who calms the raging sea, it is I who am able to do exceedingly abundantly above all you could ask or think according to the power that worketh in you, it is I who gave sight to the blind, It is I who caused the lame to walk, It is I who healed the lepers, It is I who says to your impossible situation "with Me all things are possible to them that believe". It is I who is able to turn fear into faith.
When fear appears to make itself bigger than God in your life, remember these words of Jesus, "It is I, fear not!
God bless and I love you all.
