Matthew 24:36-44 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven,[e]but My Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
No one knows the day nor the hour when Christ will return, but we do know this one thing "He is coming back. Are you ready? Have you heard the warning bell ringing? Are you making preparation to meet Jesus?
Christ return will be at a time as it was in the days of Noah. A time when people were living their lives according to what was right in their own eyes. A time as we would say "business as usual".
A time where eating, drinking and being merry was the order of the day. A time when the thought of man’s future destination was not even a thought in their own minds.
A time where the bible describes as the “days of Noah”. Noah was commanded by God to build the ark as a way of salvation from pending judgment in Noah’s day.
Jesus Christ was sent to earth as the way of salvation for you and I today. He is God’s ultimate sacrifice for the atoning of our sins and yet, many still rejects him today. They prefer the world’s pleasures over the saving of their souls.
Just as Noah was rejected, the Gospel message that is preached by those God sent out into the world is being rejected by many also by the that same spirit of “unbelief” that comes satan who is the father of lies.
Noah continued to build the ark and preached to deaf ears and unchanged hearts, the pending flood that was guaranteed to come. Instead of heeding the warning from God through Noah, the people mocked him in unbelief.
One day, suddenly, immediately, without any more warning, the heavens opened up and the rain came down. Noah and his family entered the ark of safety and God shut the door and the opportunity for salvation was no more for man because judgment had arrived. Did you hear that? “God shut the door”!
As in the days of Noah, Jesus is being shut out of the lives of many people. He is quietly being shut out by the world in the name of "freedom and my rights", He has been shut out of our schools, community, social functions and activities, sports and many family events because others are offended by Him.
When life on this side is over what will we have left?
The ark represents the "invitation" to come to Jesus while you still have time. Jesus declares in John 10:9-I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved. Our responsibility is to go through the doorway of the ark (Jesus) and God will save us.
The bible makes it clear that we are dead in trespasses and sins. Nothing we can do to save ourselves from sin and it's consequence of eternal separation from God.
Scripture also tell us in 1 John 1:9-If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
In the continual years of Noah's building and preaching, and as time continue to move and no signs of a flood to come, the lives of the people continued on in the path of self destruction without change.
The "good life" (so they thought) that consisted of eating, drinking and being merry was the order of the day.
As each day passed, I am sure Noah looked like more like a fool more than he did the day before.
But one day, the heavens opened and the rain began to pour as God said it would. Suddenly, immediately, without any more warning, the flood came and took them all away.
Think about that for a moment. One minute you are enjoying all the pleasures of the world and the next minute, the reality of your life is before you and the choices that you have made is now faced with a wall of water that you are unable to swim through.
Pleasure has been replaced by a flood. The ark of safety (salvation) was no longer available because God had “shut the door.”
When Christ returns for the 2nd coming and you have made no preparations to meet Him, who do you turn to? What do you do? There is nothing for you to do for it is now too late. No more warnings, but consequences.
On the day of the flood which happened suddenly, no was ready but Noah and his family. Noah and his family was saved that day along with pairs of every kind of animals and birds of it's kind.
Those that chose to ignore God's warning of the pending flood through unbelief perished that day. Their souls were eternally lost because they chose the pleasures of the world over salvation of their souls.
Genesis 7;12-The rain continued to fall for forty days and forty nights.
Genesis 7:21-And every living thing died that moved on the earth, birds, livestock, beasts, all swarming creatures that swarm on the earth, and all mankind.
The question to be answered on today is found in Mark 8:36-And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?
My point today is this: Christ 2nd coming for the unbelievers will be the same as it was on the day of the flood. Jesus will come suddenly, without any additional warnings and many will be caught off guard because they never expected nor prepared to one day meet Him.
Just like Noah was mocked through the people's unbelieving hearts, the thought of Jesus 2nd coming is mocked by the world today. The unbelievers calls his 2nd coming a myth. But oh, the horror that those who choose to not to believe will experience at their guaranteed face to face meeting with Jesus at judgment.
Just as the flood brought sudden judgment to the world, the return of Christ will do the same. When the flood came that day, the unbelievers were “taken” in sudden and unexpected death without another chance to get it right. They did not take advantage of the opportunity given, therefore, the on the day of the flood, the opportunity to be saved was no more.
Just as the ark saved Noah and his family Jesus Christ is the “ark of safety” for those who believe in Him.
Jesus is coming back! Are you ready? Are you living your life now in preparation to one day meet Him? You do know that you will have an appointment with Him, right? Just in case you don't know, I want to inform you that you will.
Noah sent forth a warning about the pending flood. Jesus sends forth a warning in vs# 42-44 of this text. Let's listen: Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour[f] your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Are you ready for Jesus' 2nd coming?
God bless and I love you all.
