James 4:14-How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog--it's here a little while, then it's gone.
The Apostle James ask the question "what is your life" and then he turns around and give us the answer.
James describes life in terms that are very brief. He says our life here on earth is like a "fog". A mist, a vapor, or steam from a boiling pot that appears for a little while and then it disappears.
Our life is described this way in other scripture text in this way. Let's listen.
A Wind in Job 7:7, and Psalm 78:39, a cloud in Job 7:9, a flower in 1 Peter 1:24 and a shadow in Job 14:1-2.
Life is short! Here today and gone tomorrow is life.
Even if we lived 100 years, what are those year in comparison to eternity.
Believe it or not, life here on earth is our preparation ground for eternity. It is our temporary residence. None of us are here to stay. These earthly tents will one day be taken down and we will be given a permanent home either in heaven with God or in hell apart from God.
Our days have been numbered by God. Job 14:5 You have decided the length of our lives. You know how many months we will live, and we are not given a minute longer.
Since life is short and our days here on earth have been numbered, what are you doing with your life? This is a question that cannot be overlooked or disregarded by none of us.
James's description of life in this text should motivate us today to get busy in getting our souls right with God.
James reminds us that we should not take life for granted for tomorrow is not promised to none of us.
It is time to get right with God and do it now. It is time to get our earthly houses in order.
Is your soul right with God on today? Or, have you been convinced that you have time in the future to do just that? Where do you stand in your relationship with God.
When all of life on this side is over, the only thing that will matter is if you had a personal relationship with God through Christ Jesus.
Are you living your life in a way that you truly understand that you can be here today and gone tomorrow or the next moment?
Have you considered the question of the day? "What is your life"? What thoughts have you given to this question? The time to answer is now! Not tomorrow, next week, next month or even next year because you do not know the number of days you have here on earth.
Believe it or not, our life is nothing but a "mist" that vanishes away. Here today and gone tomorrow is life.
This text is a warning or caution sign to every man, woman, boy and girl around the world who are so busy living day to day and are forgetting daily how fragile and uncertain life is.
I urge, plea and beg you on today to consider the question that is asked by the Apostle James in this text.
What is your life? One guarantee is the fact that is is her today and gone tomorrow.
The time to seek the Lord while He may be found is now!
Remember:Here today and gone tomorrow is life.
God bless and I love you all.
