Luke 6:31-Do to others as you would have them do to you.
The command here today is what we know as the "golden rule".
How well are you operating in loving others who are different from you?
How are you treating others? Your friends, family members, coworkers, neighbors, children, spouses and your church brothers and sisters? What is your behavior or attitude concerning them? Is it one of love or selfishness against them? How are you operating?
Jesus is not only telling us to refrain from doing to others what you wouldn’t want done to you, but He is also telling us to do to others what we would have them do to us.
The way to treat others is summed up in this way in Matthew 7:12-So in everything, do to others what you would have have them to do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
Love does not harm or hurt others because "love" is the fulfillment of God's law. Luke 10:27-"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind", and 'love your neighbor as yourself".
How do you like to be treated? Are you treating others the way you want to be treated? Jesus did command us to love thy neighbor as thyself. Who is thy neighbor? Everyone you encounter.
The ‘Golden Rule’ is not limited to people we like, but to everyone we encounter.
1 John 4:20-21-“If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.”
Ephesians 4:31-32 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
John 13:35-Jesus says "your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples."
Galatians 6:10- Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
How are you treating others? Are you treating others the way you want to be treated? Ponder this question on today.
