Proverbs 21:2 - People may be right in their own eyes but the Lord examines their heart.
It's amazing how we can actually rationalize and justify every single thing we do in the name of "self".
We can convince ourselves that we can do whatever we think we can and want to do, but remember, it is the Lord who examines our motive behind ever act.
Anyone who has convinced themselves that they can live according to what is right in their own eyes lives on a path of misery and deceit that will eventually lead to destruction because the way of true love, peace and joy through Christ Jesus they have rejected and care not to know.
When all the serving "Me" is over, what do you have left? A heart that will be examined by God.
Although being a Christian is not a guarantee that we will always do everything right, or that we will never again commit a sin, our position in Christ Jesus places us in a different catergory than the rest of the world who has chosen their own path in life, so they think.
If Christ and obedience to Him is our goal in life, if the Holy Spirit dwells in us, if our names are written in the lamb book of life, we have an assurance that God is working in and with us to work all things together for our good. He is working to bring us to an expected end in Christ Jesus.
Our desire should not be to live to please ourselves nor man, but to please God. When we desire to please God, we desire that the motives of our hearts are lead by His hands. It is the Lord that examines the heart.
One of the wisest man ever lived, King Solomon says "we plan our ways but God decides which direction we take." In other words, God is the final "decision maker" over our lives.
Proverbs 16:9- In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.
Jeremiah 10:23-LORD, I know that people's lives are not their own; it is not for them to direct their steps.
Living according to what is right in your own eyes. Do we see that in our world today? Without a doubt! It is evident universal.
Oh, what a terrible place to be spiritually. A place of self. A place of exclusion of God just to please the flesh. A place of temporary fixes that ends with eternal consequences if we transition from this life to the next living according to what is right in our own eyes. A place of eternal separation from God in the next life.
Life is a cycle that repeats itself. Me, me, me started in the garden and continues with full force today.
Living according to what is right in my own eyes. The same was said about the people of Israel in the days of the judges. Let's listen to Judges 21:25-In those days Israel had no king; all the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes.
Scripture declares in Proverbs 14:21-There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.
Proverbs 12:15-The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But a wise man is he who listens to counsel.
Proverbs 15:21-Foolishness brings joy to those with no sense; a person of understanding walks straight ahead on the right path.
What is the attitude of my heart? What is the motivation of my heart? Why do I do what I do?
Believe it or not, it is absolutely necessary, very important that we see ourselves as God sees us. This includes understanding where we are in our spiritual walk with God and where we should be with Him because our future, eternal destination depends upon relationship with or without Christ this and everyday.
There is a way that seems right and God says it is right. That way is the way of the "Cross". Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the light. No man come unto the Father but by Him.
Which have you chosen on today? The way that is right in your own eyes or the way that is right that has been prepared by God for you and I out of love that proved itself in death over 2k years ago on a hill called "Calvary"?
Are you living according to what is right in your own eyes? I beg you to repent and seek God for the salvation of your soul on today.
God bless you all.
