1 Timothy 6:7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.
This text is a humble reminder to all of us as to what is really important.
Our accumulation of money, earthly possessions and wealth is not as important as the world wants us to us believe it is.
What is truly important is the destination of our souls.
When we entered this world, we all entered naked and full of sin from our first parents, Adam and Eve. Yes, we all inherited their sin when we were born.
Because of our inheritance of their sin, our focus must not be on how much earthly possessions we can accumulate, but on what must we do to have our "souls" saved.
Working hard and strong every day and putting all our time and energy into accumulating more stuff is a waste of our time because all that we accumulate will one day be left behind when we die.
I am not saying that we should not want to have the good things in life and not enjoy the fruit of our labor. Yes, God wants us to enjoy them, but they should not be our primary pursuit in life. God's will for our lives should be first!
Believe it or not, but the purpose of our stay here on earth is spiritual and not material. Our stay here on earth is preparation for another life. When we loose sight of this, we will come up with nothing when we die because we will not be able to take those earthly things that we work so hard to accumulate with us.
Scripture declares in 1 Timothy 6:6-"But godliness with contentment is great gain". Therefore, if godliness with contentment is great gain, there is something to be gained by man in this world. What is it? Godliness!
Matthew 6:19-20- Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.
Romans 10:9-13- If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. 11 As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced. 12-Jews and Gentile[b] are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. 13 For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Do not let anyone deceive you into thinking that you live life here on earth as you please while eating, drinking and being merry and then when you die it is over. It is a lie!!!!
Eternity is certain! We may try to deny, suppress or reject the truth of God's Word, but God's word will stand forever. Eternity is real! Where will you spend it?
Everybody talking about heaven ain't going there! Heaven is a prepared place for prepared people. Are you making preparation to one day meet Jesus?
Ecclesiastes 12:13-"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man."
Let's listen to Apostle Paul's take on all his earthly gain in his life. and what it meant to him in Philippians 3:7-8- I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless for the sake of Christ. 8-More than that, I also consider everything to be a loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. Because of Him I have suffered the loss of all things and consider them filth, so that I may gain Christ
What is Paul saying here? What He has gain in knowing and having a personal relationship with Christ and his continual pursuit of Christ is more important to him than anything he has ever accomplished.
If we look at Paul's bio, his accomplishments were great, but guess what? He said he considered them as "dung"! Oh, what a glorious view Paul had of who Christ was and who he was in Christ!!
Mark 8:36- "For what shall it pforit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
We brought nothing and we will take nothing!
What is your soul worth to you?
