John 2:15-17- Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father[a] is not in them. 16-For everything in the world-the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life-comes not from the Father but from the world. 17-The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
"THE GREAT WAR" IS THE SPIRIT VERSES THE FLESH"
Do you love the world and all it's pleasures?
The command today is to love not the world for the world and all it's desires and pleasures are temporary.
The world here does not reference the physical world but the world of sin and evil. That part of the world which is influenced by satan and is therefore not pleasing in the eyes of God.
The 3 things that makes us the world in which we are commanded not to love is (1) the lust of the flesh (2) the lust of the eyes and (3) the pride of life which does not come from God the Father, but from the world which satan dominates.
When we love the world, it is impossible to love God. Scripture declares in Matthew 6:24-No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Jesus Himself declares the greatest command is to love God first. Let's listen to Matthew 22:36-37-Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
Exodus 20:2-3 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 3 “You shall have no other gods before[a] me.
These words spoken to Israel by God through Moses is being sent to you and I on today.
It is the Lord our God who took us created us, It is the Lord our God who pulled us out of the pits of our sinful mats we all once laid upon, it is the Lord our God who loved us enough to send His only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ to die as the atonement for our sins, it is our God who Redeemed us from the penalty of sin and death through Jesus shed blood.
It is our God who commands us on today to "love not the world", but to Love Him. Our God is a jealous God and He will have "NO" other gods before Him.
Therefore, the command to you and I on today also is "there should be no other gods."
Love not the world, but love the Lord thy God! Why? He loved us, even yet while we were sinners. That's love!
Whatever your choice may be on today, either love for the world or love for God, know this: Scripture declares in James 4:4-friendship with the world is enmity with God.
We can not and will not have it both ways. Either we love one and hate the other.
What does it really means to love God? Putting Him first and doing what he tells you to do. Luke 6:46-"Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?
1 John 5:3-For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. and His commandments are not burdensome..
It is impossible to keep God's commands and love the world at the same time.
If you chose to be driven by the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life, you will not be able to keep God's commands.
If you have been operating in the world of satan, it is tme to do as scripture declares in 1 Peter 5:6-Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.
If we humble ourselves under the mighty hands of God, we will not be ruled by the flesh, the lust of our eyes nor the pride of life, but by the Word of God and the leading of His Holy Spirit.
The promise of the world and all it's sinful desires is this:They will one day pass away.
The promise of those who choose to love God and obey His commandments is this: We will live forever!
Whatever your choice may be on today, at the end of this journey you will only hear one of 2 welcome home messages. Either you will hear "welcome home" to your home of everlasting torment or "welcome home" to life everlasting.
The choice is your's to make on today. Which have you chosen?
I urge, beg and plea with you on today that you would choose God and live.
Let us all heed the warning from John on today and choose not the love of the world, but choose to love God in word and deeds.
Love not the world, but love the Lord thy God and live!
God bless and I love you all.
