James 4:17 If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.
In the eyes of God, sin not only includes doing evil things, but it also involves not doing the things we know we should do.
To do wrong when we know we should do what is right is called "willful disobedience." You know what is right but choose to do what is wrong.
It is not enough to know what is required of us by God, but that we act it out.
There are consequences for disobedience. God describes disobedience as "witchcraft.
Our example of this is King Saul who disobeyed God's command to destroy all of the Amalekites, including all their live stocks. Instead he spared King Aga and kept the best of the live stocks which included, sheep, cattle, lambs and everything that was good.
God told Saul to completely destroy every living thing and every living creature, including the king. Saul did what Saul wanted to do and not what God told him to do.
God was angry at Saul’s sin of disobedience and said to the Prophet Samuel in 1 Samuel 15:11 "I regret that I have made Saul king, because he has turned away from me and has not carried out my instructions."
Saul paid a price for rebelling against God's command. Let's listen to 1 Samuel 15:23: Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols. So because you have rejected the command of the LORD, he has rejected you as king."
What has disobedience to God cost you? What will it cost you in eternity?
Why do what is wrong when you know what is right to do?
To embrace doing what is right when the temptation to do wrong is there too, especially concerning those who we know have intentionally wronged or offended us, we must depend upon the power of the Holy Spirit for help to do what we know is the right thing to do.
Through the "GRACE" of God, all things are possible. 2 Corinthians 9:8- “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:”
To do evil when you know what is right, is a sin in the eyes of God that will not go unpunished. Yes, I know satan may have convinced you that you are "untouchable", but be not deceived for God is not mocked, whatsoever a man sow that he shall reap.
The omission of a known duty, as well as the commission of a known sin, is condemned by God.
The warning today is "if you know to do what is right, you are expected by God to do it". If not, look for a future test on learning how to obey God and the consequences that also comes along with it.
Doing evil verses good is one pitfall that God calls on us as believers to avoid.
God has set before all of us, a great challenge on today. Do what is right and not evil at every opportunity, especially towards those that are of the house hold of faith.
Remember, to do wrong when you know what is right to do is a sin in the eyes of God.
As Christians, God is calling us to "rise above" the world in our thoughts and deeds.
Do what is right in the eyes of God. Our duty is first unto God and then unto man.
God bless you all.
