John 10:27 - 7 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
Shepherd-Jesus says I am the good Shepherd. The good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
A shepherd is one who tends herds or flocks. A shepherd leads, protects, searches for the lost sheep, finds and bring them back home.
Sheep-One Who follows.
As the Good Shepherd, Jesus is calling us to hear His voice and follow Him. Yes, follow Him and no other!
Deuteronomy 6:14-154"You shall not follow other gods, any of the gods of the peoples who surround you, 15for the LORD your God in the midst of you is a jealous God; otherwise the anger of the LORD your God will be kindled against you, and He will wipe you off the face of the earth.
Jesus is the good Shepherd that is declaring on today that His sheep listens to His voice, He knows them and they follow him and no other.
Is Jesus your Shepherd? Are you His Sheep?
Who or whom have you chosen to listen to and follow? This is the question we all must answer.
There are so many choices and distractions in the world today that are demanding our time and attention. Many voices are screaming "feed me, follow me!"
Which voices have you heard and are following? The voice of the world and all it's temporary pleasures or the voice of the Good Shepherd who promises you life everlasting with Him? Who are you hearing and following?
Even in the bible, there are many voices being heard. You can heard God speaking, Moses, Joshua, Samuel, David, the Prophets of old, the Kings & Queens, the enemies of God and His people, the donkey, the Judge, the wise, the foolish, the Holy Spirit, Jesus, the Disciples, Judas the betrayer of Jesus, satan, Paul, Peter, and on and on with many voices being heard throughout the bible.
Indeed many voices are competing for our attention and everyone of us must make the choice as to what we want to hear and who we are willing to follow.
Believe it or not, but many in the world today do not want to hear the voice of God, therefore they tune Him out and end up lost and separated from Him now and throughout eternity if they transition from earth to eternity while still in a state of rejection of Christ at death.
As much as we would like to believe that everyone is going to heaven, believe you me, everyone is not going to heaven. Jesus describes heaven as a prepared place for prepared people. Who we are when we die will be who we are in eternity. There is no conversion after death!
There is danger in ignoring the voice of God. The fact of the matter is that He is the only one who has the road map needed for life and living now and in eternity with Him or apart from Him.
The choice is ours! Follow the Shepherd and live or follow the pleasures of the world and the flesh and die a spiritual death that ends in eternal separation from God.
God alone knows the path we take and the one we should take, that is why he says "my sheep knows my voice, I know them and they follow me."
The enemy of this world, satan, the adversary, the accuser of the brethern, the deceiver, the devil as he is also called, does everything in his power and will use every weapon in his arsenal to make his voice heard throughout the world.
Everyone of us have a choice to make on today as to who's voice we will listen to and to whom will we follow.
The many voices and noises of the enemy of this world could easily keep one from hearing the "Shepherd."
We must purpose in our "will" that we will listen for the Shepherd's voice and hear what He is saying to us and that we will follow Him, regardless. He is our Shepherd, He created us, He knows all about us from the inside out. He knows our value and our worthy.
As much as we think we know about ourselves and our worth, God knows more about us. He wants to Shepherd us on today. Will you hear His voice and follow Him?
The Shepherd knows the sheep. He knows that without His leading the sheep would get lost and encounter danger.
We have a Shepherd who has given us one promise after another of His guidance and protection throughout His Word. From Genesis through Revelations, God has made His voice known.
We must be determined in our hearts, mind, body and soul that we will move forward with the "Shepherd", even in a noisy, uncertain, pressure filled world. We will hear His voice and we will follow His leading.
If you have a problem hearing and following Christ, it is not with Him, it is with us.
Are you willing to make a personal commitment on today that the "Good Shepherd" is who you will hear and follow for He commands this of you and I on today. Will you do it?
As God said to Joshua, I say to you all on today these same words of life that are found in Joshua 1:8-Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Whose voice are you hearing and who are you following? Ponder this question on today for it will indeed redirect your mind to where it needs to be and that is on the "Good Shepherd" and Him alone.
God bless and I love you all.
