2 Peter 2:20-22 -Departing From True Knowledge Of The Gospel To Return To A World Of Sin?

2 Peter 2:20-22 And when people escape from the wickedness of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then get tangled up and enslaved by sin again, they are worse off than before.

21 It would be better if they had never known the way to righteousness than to know it and then reject the command they were given to live a holy life.

22 They prove the truth of this proverb: “A dog returns to its vomit.”[a] And another says, “A washed pig returns to the mud.”

Peter writes this letter as a warning to false teachers and those who choose to follow them.

Departing form true knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to return to the world in bondage of sin once again after being delivered from it is where you find yourself on today? Is this the route you have chosen to take with your life?

Have you been convinced and entangled by false teachers that the Gospel you had once known is no longer of any effect? Has your connection to them and your decision to believe their lies lead you back as a slave to sin and bondage to that which God had once delivered you from?

Scripture declares that it would have been better for you if you had not known the way to righteousness, if you had not received the Gospel truth than to have receive it and now live a life that causes you to reject the command you were once given to live a holy life when you received the knowledge of God's truth.

By departing from the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, having known the truth and returning to a life of wickedness proves true of the proverb that declares that a man who once put his hands to the Gospel plow through knowledge of the Gospel truth and decides to return to this world of sinful bondage is like a "dog returning to his vomit" or a "washed pig returning to the mud."

The world, through false advertisement has  convinced and cause many to reject the knowledge of Christ which they once knew, to return to a life of sinful bondage back into the world.

They have been convinced to  return to a life of eat, drink and be merry, do what you please, live in adultery, shack together, drink as much as you want, sleep with whoever you want to, do any and everything the flesh tells you to do because when you are dead, you are done.

When you make the sound decision to reject the truth of the Gospel knowledge you once knew to go back to a lifestyle of bondage to sin, here is what the scripture says concerning you in Luke 11:24-26-When an evil[a] spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, searching for rest. But when it finds none, it says, ‘I will return to the person I came from.’25 So it returns and finds that its former home is all swept and in order. 26 Then the spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off than before.

Oh, the horror this man or woman will endure once they have willfully chosen to leave the knowledge of the truth of Christ Jesus to again return to a life of bondage to sin which he or she was once delivered from.

I urge, beg and plea with you on today to seek wise counsel! Seek God through the scriptures and not the world, and you will live.

When you Seek wise counsel through the Word of God, you have made a sound decision that God's Word is truth and everything else is a lie.  Romans 3:4- Let God be true and every human being a liar.

Wicked and evil thoughts are accompanied by evil and wicked practices.

What have you chosen to believe and who have you chosen to follow? Is it the truth of God's Word or the lies of false teachers?

False teachers feeds the sinful nature while the Word of God feeds the spirit of the transformed, regenerated, redeemed man or woman.

Having escaped from the wickedness of the world through the knowledge of Christ Jesus and having again been tangled and enslaved by sin again is a place I pray that you have not chosen to be in your life.

The way to escape the  world's pollution and corruption is through  the knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

God bless!
