Psalm 3:3-4 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.
4 I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.
in this text David had fled from the throne. He left his possessions and his wives behind him. His own son whom he loved was attempting to kill him. And yet in all of this pressure and distress David chose to seek God.
One thing we can take notice about David is the fact that when trouble came in His life, he seeked the Lord. Remember when he was among his enemies, the Philistines in a city called Ziglag and his city was burned, wives and children were taken, his men wanted to stone him to death, instead of going after what he had lost first, scripture declares that David "inquired of the Lord".
In other words, He asked God what to do about the situation.
We see the same taking place here years after that experience in Ziglag.
Again, David having God as his first priority is seen here also. He did not say to God "give me my palace back, give me my kingdom back, give me my wives back", No. David prayed "I will seek God first" because His love is better than life.
David had experience with God and he knew the power of God and what God was able to do. He had seen the hands of God worked in his life before and he knew that if God was able back then, He is still the same God and is able to do it again.
Where do you stand in your relationship with God. Is He first priority in your life? When trouble comes in like a flood do you seek Him or do you seek to pick up your telephone and tell the world what you are going through?
Where do you stand today in your relationship with God?
David is declaring that because of who God is, not only will he make Him first priority in his life, but that he will praise, worship and lift up the name of the Father until the day he dies for he says he will do it "as long as I live".
David could make this declaration because he had a personal relationship with God. God Himself describes David as "a man after God's own heart".
When you have truly been transformed by the power of God's Holy spirit, this confession of David can be personally taken as you own. You and I can then boldly confess that we too "will bless the Lord at all times and His praise shall continually be in our mouth too.
We are commanded in Matthew 6:33- to seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and David is making his declaration to this command, even under the pressures of life.
David is our example on today that regardless of what we may have to suffer, regardless of the test or trials, regardless of what pressures life throws at us, if God is priority in our lives and His Word and His Holy Spirit abides in us, we will be able to stand against the fiery dots and pressures of life because God is not only for us, but He is with us.
Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. If God be for us, who could be against us?
Can you boldly proclaim like David on today that because of who God is in your life, your lips will glorify Him and that your hands will continually be lifted up in praise unto Him?
Where do you stand in your relationship with God on today? Is it just to serve him? Serving Him is fine and it is nothing wrong with that because faith without work is dead.
Seeking God first must become our number one priority in life. Do not allow your works to replace your commanded priority of seeking God first.
Believe it or not, but the pressures of life reveals where our true priority lies. What does the pressures of life reveals about you?
As for me, my declaration on today is like David's. Because of God's love toward me in sending forth His Son to die for my sins, He is my priority! Therefore, I will continue to give Him the fruit of my lips and lift up holy hands unto Him until the day I die.
God, I will worship you even under pressure, because of who you are in my life.
Make God your number 1 priority and I guarantee you that you will never regret it. As a matter of fact, you will see blessing flowing from your troubles.
God bless and I love you all.
