Psalm 56:3 In the day when I am afraid, I will trust in You.
Having fled from his enemies, King Saul and the Philistine army, David declares to the Lord that “when he is afraid, He will trust God."
Has fear of your enemies forced you to put your trust in God? This is where we find David in this text. Trusting God in the midst of fear and trouble from his enemies.
The reason why I used the word "force" is because we as human beings have a tendency to first seek other people and other things when fear and trouble comes.
People, friends, family and all other things are limited in their help, therefore, taking it to God "first" is the best way to deal with fear of and trouble from the enemy.
In this text, David give us the prescription needed for overcoming fear. The only medicine needed to heal and comfort us in the time of fear and trouble is prayer and the Word of God. In other words, seeking God alone, first.
Has fear of your enemies lead you to put your trust in God?This is where we find David in this text. Trusting God in the midst of fear and trouble from his enemies.
When fear tries to attach itself to you, you must remember what God ‘s Word declares concerning you when it comes. Let's listen to 2 Timothy 1:7- For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
David recognized that God was his only hope and help.
God is the only one that offers a guaranteed assurance of defeat for the enemies of God's people and victory for God's people over their enemies.
What about you on today? Has fear of your enemies "forced" you to put your trust in God? If not, who? Where do you turn to? Who is greater than God to trust? He is a Mighty Fortress, All Sufficient, All Wise, The Sovereign God. There is none like Him!
Where do you go when there is no where to go? Glad you ask. You turn to the Lord! Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in you Lord. That's it!
The only place that David could turn was to the True and Living God. David had a personal relationship with God and he knew what God was able to do because he had seen the hand of God worked in his life over and over again. Therefore, David knew that he could put his trust in the Lord from his past experiences and history with God.
Jeremiah 17:7Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord.
When fear and trouble is all around, the Lord our God is a refuge. He is a Shelter in life's storms. He is a secret, hiding place for those that are seeking shelter from your enemies too.
Who can stand against our God? Isaiah 59:19b-.When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.
Where is your faith on today? I too like David, have placed my trust in the Lord my God who is able to bring forth victory out of every circumstances in life, including the ones against my enemies.
God bless you and I love you all.
